This brush works like a charm breaking up the mats on my poodle's tail and ears. It's gentle, as long as you don't yank the brush too aggressively through the dog's hair. The two-sides with different lengths is very helpful and does not scratch my dog's skin.

I have a blue healer and she sheds awful!!! This brush has been a life saver! It doesn’t look like it’s doing much when you’re brushing until you look at the floor. The hair doesn’t get caught up in the teeth making you have to stop every few strokes to clean it out. My dog sees me pick this up and comes trotting over to get brushed!

I have a couple of cats that don't groom well and have matted spots. It's great for breaking up the mats but didn't remove them completely. Also, hair floats off of them when brushing so I had to pick all that up. Maybe better suited for dogs or pets with longer hair.

And our dog seems to enjoy the process. The design allows for the removal of matted undercoat without discomfort or harm to him. Just wish we had found it sooner. Unfortunately while there are limited instructions on the web page, it does not come with any useful printed information. While searching Amazon for more, I found a number of very similar grooming tools priced both higher and lower. A cheaper version might have worked but I like this one because it is well made and I know it works.
