Used for better blind rod grips. 9mm hole, widen to 10mm for my application (25/64 bit is 9.9mm). Smear lower inch with some type of contact glue or silicone, insert with a twist, wipe off, bam no more cramped fingers. Will plug and use rest for small files or whatever need happens. It's a soft wood but firm enough for such things.

I ordered these to use with small files such as handsaw sharpening files, as advertised by the seller. The description accurately described the diameter and depth of the hole at ⅜" X 1 ¼", which is far too large for a file tang, even a full-size mill file let alone a small triangular file. I filled the holes by epoxying in a ⅜" x 1 ¼" hardwood dowel and then redrilling the center hole at 3/32" to ¼" for my use. Other than the need for this modification, these are nice, small hardwood handles for a variety of shop uses. I dropped one star because of the misleading description as designed for small files (without modification). That said, I would order them again.

Well made little handles but the hole is much too big for my file collection.

Nicely finished, hole is centered. If you are using for file handles these will need work. The hole is straight, not tapered and too shallow and wide for a standard file.Mount it on a mandrel, chuck it in your lathe, drill a pilot hole, then taper with a standard wood tapered reamer. Take about 3/16 off the end to get the taper right. If you don’t have the equipment to do this don’t buy this. Only other way to mount a file is bedding in epoxy.

All are uniform in size and quality. Perfect turnings and the holes are centered in hardwood.
