I read a review on the hot water. Boil water and put into mug. Drop gear in mug and wait 2-3 minutes. Use old gear and socket to install new gear. Press down on the socket, if it doesn't seat place partially installed gear and shaft into water for another minute then try again. That was my process.

The person(s) responsible for making this available, have done a great thing!Do not make the mistake that I made and think that ordering a new actuator would be better than repairing your existing one! Installing this in a 99-06 Silverado or Sierra, is NOT an easy task! I installed the new - made in China actuator, all to have to do the job again 2 weeks later. But I just ordered this part to fix my original. Thankfully, I hadn't thrown it away. I noticed issues, as soon as I connected the new part. They are garbage!! It was super easy to install this gear into the actuator. Been working perfectly now for a few months. If they charged three times more for this part, it would still be a bargain!

I finally got around to removing the bad actuator on my GMC Envoy to replace the broken gear and these gears fit, but fit very loose. I do not want to use, because its a big job and don't trust the gears that were sent. I could glue them but I don't believe that will help.

Works as expected. You should pull up some images of the actuator and how it should look. This is because one of the gears is connected to a potentiometer that is used by the truck's computer to determine where the actuator is. If you don't have it close to proper spot it will not work when you are done and you'll have to take it apart and adjust it. Otherwise it is much cheaper than buying a new actuator and fixes the problem.

$12+: Perfect Fit cleanly cut teeth and bearing surfaces to replace 20+ year old and cracked main gear. Hot water soak the gear, Alum shaft placed in Freezer, and gentle tapping with soft mallet to seat the gear via interference fit. Unknown durability so cant rate longevity, but after installation it works fine. Glad to see it is MADE IN USA ! worth the $12. I would buy again if another one of these main gears fail in our other actuators.GM Blend/Mode Air Door Actuator Gear Rebuild Kit (Fits Chevy, GMC and more 1990-2013)
