Excellent gunsmith lube. Add to sheep skin wool wipe pad or apply directly this product protects and maintains all metal parts. Excellent product. Have used for over 30 years.

It's an old product. I've been using it for at least forty years, and have found nothing better for most firearms applications. I would recommend the Rig +P though for stainless steel parts riding on stainless steel. It's been my go-to lube and protection grease for daily carry guns as well as collectors items. It's almost odorless and doesn't stain most materials.Pat

Just a little dab here or there on high friction areas and you are set. It doesn't take much at all. Just barely dip a swab in a spread it around. It holds it's place and continues to provide protection long after application.

I used to applly gun oil on my firearms for storage (in a case). Although I never experienced rust problems, I often had to reapply oil because it came off. This grease is perfect: it sticks to the metal and does not rub off on the case linings, so I don't have to worry anymore ! 1 jar will last a lifetime, an application does not use much. Comes off with a couple of rags, not a serious set back considering the protection it offers. Fair price, considering the high cost of small bottles of gun oil....

If you live somewhere with heat and humidity, Rig is indispensable for protecting the finish of blued steel. I have never had an issue when using it, and you can get a large container at a great price. Just remember that a little goes a long way. Apply a light coat and wipe off any excess.

Bought this to protect my shotgun while hunting sea ducks. Always had rust spots before no matter how much gun oil I used. This product was easily applied as a thin layer that basically sank into the blueing and wouldn't wipe off. Protected the gun throughout a full days hunt on the ocean. Provides excellent protection and is easy to apply in small amounts thanks to the small hole in the top. This tube should last a couple years. Highly recommend.

I'll never understand why gun grease companies don't advertise the NLGI (thickness) of their products. This product is definitely on the thicker side - probably close to a NLGI 2 (similar to bulk grease tubs at walmart), just a bit thinner maybe. Probably not the most ideal grease for lubricating actions, though I'm sure it would work in a pinch. That said, the purpose of this grease appears to be more of a protective coating and my initial thoughts on it in that role are extremely positive. Rubbing some of this into a microfiber cloth and wiping down/"buffing" really makes a difference. It brings out the luster of multiple different types of finishes (stainless, parkerized and blued). Once rubbed in/buffed, it surprisingly doesn't leave the metal as greasy/slick as I would have otherwise expected.Based on that experience and other reviews/feedback, I have no doubt that this is providing a good protective coating on the metal. I could also see this being applied thick as a long term storage option. In short, initial thoughts are that this product is great as a finish protective measure/rust preventative but just mediocre as an action lubricant.

I do not own a firearm. But what I use this for is to coat my slides on my French Horn.the water based coating gets hard and sticky, and has to reapplied every week or so.this Universal grease is great, I can leave it on for months, the slides do not seize and does not get hard.been using this for 20 years without any issuesFantastic stuff.
