I recommend this to pond owners who have a really good filter and or water fall and more than likely over my small 300 gallonWorks like it says but ends up with a ton of dead algae which I have to vacuum up and clean the pond and change filters like every couple weeks to keep clear and fish healthy

My husband 'built' me a beautiful 3000 gallon fish pond in August/September of this year. It has a little 'river' and 2 waterfalls and the falls splash down into the pond. Once we started adding things to it, like a few plants and a FEW fish (10 total and bought in stages to not shock the water with too many fish at one time) we noticed the water started to turn pea green. We tried algaefix at first and though that worked ok (there was a bit of string algae initially), i really got concerned when the fish looked like they were gasping for air and lethargic (regardless of what we tried to do to make the pond 'right'). I ordered GreenClean granular algaecide (got it 2 days later) and immediately treated the water. In those 2 days while waiting for this product to come, sadly we lost 2 fish (CRUSHED). We immediately treated the pond and watched it work its magic. Little particles of green starting 'bubbling up' off the gravel and stone. It was quite a sight! Within (I'd say) 24-48 hours, our pond was so clear we could see the bottom. We didn't have crazy string algae or anything like that (the little bit we had, was treated with the algaefix we initially used). This was just regular old algae and green water. We have (since) been treating it weekly with a 'maintenance dose' and i have to say, the remaining fish are THRIVING. It was really amazing to see them go from practically suffocating in the water (prior to treatment) to after the treatment, where they were back to swimming around and acting playful (and hungry!). It hurt my heart to see them suffer in that water, despite us trying to make it perfect for them. The pond is as close to perfect as we can get it right now as we prepare for winter (can't really get new plants for it to help gobble up the algae, and this was part of the problem in August/September when the pond was initially done...pickin's were poor for living plants to add to it). I won't go without this product. It's safe and as I said, proof for us was seeing the fish back to active and playful. Adding this was like injecting the water with oxygen and it was like they could really breathe for the first time. Oh and I just called the manufacturer to see if I could use this in my 75 and 45 gallon fish tank and was told yes...very small dose (according to the package for the # of gallons) and watch the Ph level (which is really important). Got a bit of algae in my tanks that I'd really like to clean up without draining down the tanks completely, cleaning everything, and stressing out my fish! I don't think you'll be disappointed in this product. It really, really did a great great job!

I have a man-made pond in my yard, with a waterfall. The pond is lined in small boulders, and the water is from a well. Every year I develop massive amounts of string algae, so large and heavy that it is difficult to even lift it out of the pond with a rake. I have tried so many products, done of which have worked. I received this order a few days ago, after finding it on Amazon and seeing positive reviews.I turned off my waterfall and scooped as much of the floating algae out of the pond as I could. I could still see the rocks on the bottom being covered with algae. I then scattered this granular algaecide over the surface of the water, scattering it using the scoop that came inside the container. I didn't do any scientific measuring, but just tried to get an even scatter over the pond. Within 10 minutes, "crud" was floating to the surface all over the pond. The instructions said to keep the waterfall off for 20-30 minutes, but I chose to wait an hour. By then, there was a large quantity of algae floating on the surface. I then scooped as much of that out as I could, and then turned the waterfall back on.The next day I went to the pond with my skimmer, planning to scoop more algae out. But amazingly, there was none floating in the pond, a very small amount was still on the rocks at the bottom, and the water clarity was very good. My filter had a small amount of algae that it had trapped, but otherwise the pond is free of the horrible string algae.I am anxious to see how the pond does over the next week or so. If the algae starts returning I will repeat my treatment, which was very easy to do.I am so pleased with this product, and hope that this treatment lasts a while.

It works well in killing the algae, although it doesn't really clean it up. It does have chemicals so I would stick to the recommended dosage. I have a 500 gallon running pond with 6 koi fish. I stop the running water falls and sprinkle about 1/2 cup of the algaecide with my hands (use rubber gloves). Within 15-20 minutes, you can see the green algae die and float to the surface. Some of the algae just turns brown and sticks to the surface. Then I restart the water circulation and I have a clean pond. It takes about 3-4 hours for the sediments to clean up. I typically apply this once a month and wait a day for the filtration system to clean up the dead sediments. I change / replace the filters a day after the application. This is a one-time clean up chemical. You still need natural algaecides to keep the water clean between applications. I use microbe-lift, barley straw, and aquatic plants (covering about 1/2 of the pond). This seems to do the trick. My string algae growth has reduced substantially (although not completely eliminated) with these measures.
