Works flawlessly. The cord is a little on the short side (though it has a decent amount of stretch in it) so make sure you measure first if you have any doubt as to how far your auxiliary power port is from where you plan to mount the radio. This also completely eliminates the battery - when the car is off (or power is cut to the port) the radio will turn off. Which works great for a mobile installation.

Calling all preppers, off-roaders, tactical cosplayers, and anyone else who's discovered the gem that is Baofeng radios! I've been a fan of these affordable little wonders for years, using them for all sorts of adventures. But, there's always been one piece missing in my setup – a solid vehicle charger. Well, not anymore!I stumbled upon this adapter and, let me tell you, it checks all the right boxes. It's a nifty gadget that's perfect for my needs. In my Jeep, the Baofeng is mostly for scanning while I'm cruising around. I'm not into drilling holes in my dash, but I sure do enjoy playing the role of a curious onlooker.And that's where this adapter shines. It lets me be that ever-alert, snoopy scanner guy without ever worrying about my radio running out of juice. It's a game-changer for sure. Now, I can keep my ears open and batteries full, all while on the move. Absolutely fantastic!

Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Fits onto the radio properly, so no tolerance issues. Can't speak to the long term longevity of this eliminator, but I only bought it for ocassional, emergency use.

This adapter works perfectly with the UV5R HT. It snapped right in and powered the HT with no problems. Remember, this is NOT a battery charger. It is a 12V DC adapter for use in your automobile 12V accessory outlet, or 12V power supply with an accessory 12V outlet.

so you bought a Baofeng radio for the zombie apocalypse and want to use it in the car. Stop and listen. baofeng radios use a weird voltage, not 12V. If you plug a Baofeng into your cigarette lighter you'll get a puff of smoke and some sparks as the radio fries from too much voltage. get one of these little gems and replace the battery with it and you're set for mobile ops. Don't want to use one? don't say I didn't warn you.

I had a cousin that had one of these battery eliminators for his Baofeng UV-5R's and I need to borrow his one time while we were on a road trip and my UV-5R was the only ham radio I had with me and we used it on the trip with a mini-mag mount antenna and worked great.

Good to have for a backup if battery's fail, some reports of problems with continuous use but I have had good luck. Cheap price and good to have.
