On Tenor sax, with a mouthpiece 8* (.116) this thing always pinches my lip, sometimes cutting. I can't use it. I like the tone and response of the thing, and I've tried Bari again from time to time, but I think I'm done. I can't risk injury when I use the reed. I have never experienced this on another brand, cane or synthetic reed.

Used at 4 sessions so far. Nit as bright as a fibracell , a little harder to blow. That’s the down side, the upside is I can take it to the high notes and hold it as long as I want! When I call upon this reed to be there, it has not let me down! I don’t see how this reed can delaminate like a fibracell, Has not splintered or gotten water soaked from saliva. So far this is my go to reed, goodbye fibracell. Hello BARI……

For those who find that Bari plastic reeds are too thick to play on, keep in mind that they are not "filed" down. That means the reeds have a thicker "hump" or "ridge" that runs down the center of the reed, just like unfiled cane reeds do. I have found that filing them down with a 10 inch/ 180 grit diamond file (a little at a time of course) makes them just as playable as any regular reed. If you use the smaller files, you might make the surface uneven. Just remember not to file the tip (about the width of the rectangle around the Bari logo on the top of the reed) or you will have trouble playing in the upper register, as the tip will be to thin. You can sand the tip a little to get the lower notes easier. Experiment carefully. I have a 3/8 inch piece of plastic from Tap Plastics and 2 mini needle-nose vise-grips to hold the reeds in pl;ace while filing. I will never go back to cane reeds again.

Es una buena caña para el saxo. Aunque se me hace un poco más dura que las tradicionales cañas de bambú. A pesar de ello realiza su función a la perfección. Podéis prepararos para ensayar horas y horas.

Stiffer than expected for "soft" category. Sound is rather "thin"

This is a great reed. But it's much too strong for me.I'm playing way better with my 2.5 reed and the difference is night and day.I wouldn't suggest this for beginners, since the technique is totally user error here.

At first I had a problem with the Soft reed being too difficult for my Tenor Sax lower register. I emailed Bari for some advice and got an reply right away that they were sending me a number of reeds to try at no cost. I have since found the Number 10 to be just a super reed and flowing nicely. Obviously, I am very happy with the company and would recommend them highly to any horn player.

Got these for my son who uses them for playing the sax in high school marching band. He said they are great for marching band but prefers the traditional wooden reads for concert band as he felt the synthetic reeds we too easy to squeak.
