About this item

  • We have carefully selected 10G seeds per bag for your planting. These are very fresh seeds, and you can plant them with confidence. Decorate your fish tank well
  • Aquarium grass is better known as Lilaeopsis Novea-Zeelandiae and is a relatively straight forward plant to deal with. It grows easily making it suitable for beginners and up. The great thing about it is that it looks just like the grass you would find in your garden and the reason why it’s such a popular plant for the aquarium.
  • Usually, plants will grow faster with adequate lighting, CO2, and extra fertilization. As I’ve mentioned above, the easiest way to grow aquarium plants from seeds, including in established aquarium, is starting the seeds outside the tanks then transfer the young seedlings into your aquarium.
  • Grab the hairgrass by the roots with a pair of plant tweezers. Using planting tweezers is somewhat mandatory for planting virtually any type of hairgrass in an aquarium.
  • It is popular in the aquarium hobby for its use in guppy tanks by beginner, intermediate and expert aquarists. Guppy grass provides the best hiding spots for fry, and adult fish like to swim around it. This plant is fairly hardy and versatile.

I planted the seeds over a month ago. There is no water in the aquarium so it could grow easier. I’ve been watering it with a spray bottle and I have a good recommended light for growing plants but the seeds have not germinated yet. I don’t think they will… I have grown seeds in the tank that are growing beautifully so I don’t know I think there’s something wrong with the seeds :(

As like others have claimed, mine shipped green. I think my seeds weren't mature upon harvest, so that's why not a single seed grew. There's no instructions provided with the seeds, so you'll have to look to the internet for advice

I almost threw out my first attempt to germinate the seeds after showing no signs of growth 1 week later. But as I was going to pick up the container I saw 3 little sprouts starting to take off. The next morning there was a dozen or so starting to go. So patience is the key with these. However, with that said, it would have been nice for the seller to include any information at all on the germination process for the seeds. I had to set up multiple experiments to see what would actually get them started, which is why I can only give them 3 stars on the "easy to grow" category. The germination rate also seems really really low at this point, but could change as time goes on, but it really isn't too much of an issue as there are probably over 10,000 seeds in the pouch they sent. How I had success growing them was as follows. In a tupperware container I put an inch or two of LECA, or expanded clay pellets, then a layer of coconut fiber, then a thin layer of soaked potting soil. After that I filled it with water to just under the top of the soil layer and put the seeds on top. Put in direct sunlight or under a growing light and waited a week. Also make sure there is decent airflow to help prevent any mold from growing on the seeds.Since I wanted to move these to an aquarium after they establish themselves, I used the thinnest layer of dirt as I could to make removing it easier when they go in the aquarium.Picture is ~ 1 month of growth. I have to trim it every 2-3 days because it grows in height very quickly. In terms of density, it is much slower to fill in, but that is not an issue with the seeds, that is just how the plant grows.

Waste of money. Seeds wouldn’t germinate, and came with absolutely no instructions. I soaked them in clean, filtered aquarium water for a day and then added them to the aquarium. Waited 10 days and not a single sprout.
