This seems to be the only stuff that gets the ammonia out of our florida tap water. I use this for my axolotl tank.Axolotls produce a lot of ammonia. As you can see in my ammonia gauge, the ammonia level rises frequently and I have to dose the tank. I also use Prime but it's largely ineffective to keep the levels down alone. I will say, this is a small bottle and I now buy a larger one.

I had an amonia spike and purchased this to treat it. I retested the next day and it was testing high still. Too many water changes later I called my LFS to help troubleshoot the problem. I was told that although it works, it throws off test kit testing. So the results I kept getting were inaccurate. My fish are doing well, bottom line, but I won't use this product again.

I feel like the description on Amazon is misleading but once you get the product, it is very clear. If you have ammonia in your reef tank, your fish are in danger. This product gives your fish a couple of days for you to either get the ammonia down or find them a new home.I was having issues with a newer tank, and I dosed the tank with this product just to be sure everyone was safe. Well, in the morning, my royal gramma had passed away, BUT the sea horses and dottyback miraculously were still alive. I thought, oh crap, the Ammo-Lock killed the gramma (but now I'm certain the exposure to ammonia, nitrites, and phosphates were just too much for him, Ammo-Lock or not). The seahorses survive and went to a friend, but the dottyback stayed because he was doing ok. 2-1/2 days later, he was about 5 minutes from death. I realized then that the Ammo-Lock had saved him and the seahorses because I saw first hand that the Ammo-Lock had worn off just like the instructions said: it only lasts about two days . So, the dottyback got tossed into a tank with lots of coral, and he recovered within the hour. I dosed again with the Ammo-Lock when I got a bit of ammonia in that tank (it's a long story), and he's still going strong. The corals are fine, and the tank parameters didn't change a bit after dosing. This stuff really works. If you have a complete tank meltdown like I did, this will save fish lives while you figure out how to save the tank. You may still lose a fish or two, but Ammo-Lock is a hail Mary to begin with. If you're having issues with a new tank or start to see the beginnings of tank meltdown, Ammo-Lock is a must. I will ALWAYS have a bottle handy.

Bought to deal with an ammonia spike. Works as intended and converts the ammonia to its non toxic form for 48hrs. Easy to use and measure out. It’s worth noting that if you are using the API ammonia test, the non toxic form of ammonia still shows up as the test looks for both NH3 & NH4. So you could be fooled into thinking this product isn’t working.I used a Seachem Ammonia Alert (which only tests for the toxic form NH3) to keep an eye on when this product was wearing off.Only issue is the bottle dosnt last very long, as it’s not a concentrated solution so if you have a prolonged ammonia issue as I did (my cycle crashed after medication) you will run out.

Haven't had to use it yet, hopefully never will have to.Good to keep in reserve in case of an ammonia or nitrite spike, especially during the cycling stage.
