About this item

  • SAFE FOR THE FISH: Selsil Aquarium Silicone is a silicone sealant used in glass bonding work. It does not contain chemicals or solvents that are not friendly to your fish or other organisms in the aquarium. This product is made from 100% silicone polymer, is used in aquarium manufacturing, and conforms with the ISO 11600 –F&G–25 LM standards.
  • ADHESIVE FOR VARIOUS NON-POROUS SURFACES: This transparent silicone sealant offers an excellent grip on the glass without using an additional primer. It adheres well to acetoxy system curing glass and many non-porous surfaces. This is a silicone adhesive that also offers insulation for many kinds of materials like aluminum, glazed ceramic tiles, and glass. You may use this product for freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
  • STRONG BOND: Highly elastic and flexible, this adhesive putty offers a quality adhesion effect. It is also resistant to ozone, ultra-violet radiation, and extreme temperatures. It does not lose its elasticity at high and low temperatures and it will not crack, pull, or discolor.
  • FAST CURING: This aquarium glue offers quick curing time. Apply the aquarium silicone on the surfaces you need to work on and wait only a few hours for it to cure. It is, however, best to wait up to 24 hours if you want it to completely cure. Its application temperature should be between + 5 ° C and +40 ° C (41.0 ° F and 104 ° F). This product conforms to ISO 11600–F & G – 25 LM.
  • MULTI-PURPOSE: This is not just a sealant for your making or repairing aquariums. You may also use this silicone glue for other applications like sealing seams, stopping leaks, or securing decorations in the aquarium. As long as the surface you will work on is non-porous, this clear silicone caulk will do its job well.

Hope it holds up for use with the Rubbermaid stock tanks. Other sealers got too hard and leaked. May just go with regular pipe dope with teflon if this doesn't work well.

This was my first adventure with a leaking tank. After watching videos and learning what to do, I prepped my tank. Holy moly it's a lot of work to capture the fish, move them to a holding tank, fully empty the leaking tank, strip off the old silicone, and clean and prep everything.Once I got to that point, putting on the SELSIL silicone sealant was a snap. It's messy for someone inexperienced like myself but I got through it. I let the sealant cure for two days. I then filled it with tap water to let it sit for almost a week. I wanted some confidence before I put everything back.Confidence now gained, I drained the tank, and reset it up with the fish from my holding tank. I'm happy to report that I have no leaks, and it looks like I have a brand new tank. The fish are all happy and all quite alive. Approximately 20 cichlids. My only tip, outside of watching some videos, is to be sure to get more than you think you need. You don't want to run out or you'll have to start over. This two pack helped with that.

I was happy to get something that is specifically designed for aquariums. Looked and smelled as expected for an aquarium sealer (which is one way to tell if you bought the wrong stuff). I really like the nozzle that comes with it too. The price was in the ballpark of other sealers, but this one specifically said that it was safe for fish. I have just used it so I can't address it's long term durability, but I am expecting it to do just fine.

I used the SELSIL Aquarium Silicone Sealant Clear to repair a cracked toilet tank (shhh, don’t tell the landlord!), and it worked like a charm! The sealant created a strong, watertight bond that’s holding up perfectly under daily use.The item shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition, which was a huge relief since I needed it for an urgent fix. The application process was straightforward, and while there is a strong odor initially, it fades after a couple of days. This sealant is a lifesaver for tricky, high-stakes repairs like mine. If it can handle a toilet tank repair, it can probably handle just about anything! Highly recommend this product for anyone needing a reliable, waterproof sealant. Just be sure to ventilate the area when applying.

This sealant worked very well to reseal my 75-gallon aquarium that started leaking out of the bottom seal. I made sure that all the old sealant was removed, and the glass was clean. It's important to clamp it while it is sealing. I let it cure for 48 hours after applying the sealant and slowly filled with water to ensure that the aquarium didn't leak. It is now over 3 months, and the aquarium has not started leaking.
