Altra Mont Blanc Trail Running Shoes The Mont Blanc's are an ultimate long-distance trail running shoe inspired by the highest mountain in the Alps. This trail cruise has been designed with an Altra EGO MAX midsole foam, a Vibram LiteBase outsole and strategically placed materials for the best performance. Lightweight, Hyper Breathable Upper Featuring strategically placed, lightweight, hyper breathable fabrics encase your feet in providing the utmost comfort for your feet to thrive under pressure. This sensational upper works to keep feet feeling cool and comfortable, by removing excess heat and replacing it with cool, fresh air. This allows you to remain comfortable whilst your blazing the trail and maintains your focus. The lightweight, breathable materials reduce unwanted bulk to help keep you focused and moving, whilst the Standard Footshape technology allows your toes to relax and spread out naturally for more comfort and stability in uphill climbs and downhill descents. Completing the upper construction of the Mont Blanc trail shoes, a traditional lace-up system allows feet to remain comfortably secured in the shoes, and prevents in-shoe slippage from occurring. Altra EGO Max Midsole The midsole unit utilises the tried-and-true Altra EGO Max midsole foam provides you with all the light and luxurious performance needed in a trail shoe, alongside an additional level of bounce and durability for total comfort and control on the trail. The midsole works to reduce the impact being placed on joints, lessening the potential for injuries. A Balanced Cushioning platform works by placing your heel and forefoot in the same direction from the ground, therefore, encouraging proper, low impact form throughout your trail run. Vibram Megagrip Outsole The Mont Blanc Trail Shoes utilises Vibram's impressive Megagrip through the outsole of the shoe

This was my first pair of Mont Blancs and I won't be going back to them. The lugs were falling off after about 200 miles, which may seem like a lot of miles, but I've put three times that much into multiple pairs of Altra Lone Peaks and Superiors haven't had the issue. That being said they are comfortable, with a good mix of padding and breathability. For the price point though I expected them to have more sole life.

Seem to be very durable. Great traction. And comfortable.

I really like the style comfort of these shoes. They fit as expected. I have been using them for general wear and hiking . They do very well, gripping on rocks and making me feel secure on the trail. There are two issues that have me very disappointed. The biggest issue is that the shoes squeak constantly. It’s not a quiet squeak. It’s very noisy. It’s hard to be out on the trail trying to enjoy nature when your shoes squeak every time you move. I was walking down the hall and everyone turned to look at me because my shoes were so noisy. The other issue, considerably less important is the very thin tongue that makes it hard to put the shoes on. In order to get the tongue in the proper position, I have to untie and loosen the laces and dig out the tongue. I gave them two stars because of the squeaking noise.

Gotta love ALTRA!!! These are not only comfortable but they look sharp too. They have become my go to shoe for everything. I hope they stick around for a while.

I love the way these shoes run. The lacing system works well for me and they don’t slide on my feet. I think they look nice. They don’t weigh much.…but man-oh-man, is the mesh upper fragile! A small stick flipped up from the trail on one of my first uses and punctured a hole right through the mesh. Thankfully, a local shoe repair shop was able to heat and melt the small hole back closed with only a small discolored spot visible. Now I refrain from using my best “trail” shoes on all but the cleanest terrain to avoid damage.

It takes a little bit of time to figure out the lacing to get the heel lock right but once you do these are great shoes. Did 11 miles a few times in these and my catamount 2s and I prefer these due to the comfort, slight energy return and wider toe box. Very stable on the trails and the foam is great even going over rocks and roots. The lugs might could be a bit longer but if the terrain is that soft and muddy I just switch to my inov8 ultra 300 Gs.

I've had 3 or 4 pairs of the Mont Blanc all for thru hiking, CT, AZT, CDT. I've tried the Lone Peaks, but the grip was not secure and the shoe too roomy. The Olympus were sloppy for my smaller normal width foot and the shoes material got wet and stayed wet.The Mount Blanc remedies those issues. Dries fast, is light, fits MY foot with a roomy but not sloppy toe box that helps with my plantar issue. They tend to last around 500 tough trail miles. They are pricey, but I've lucked out and found them on sale for $100 now and then. The biggest negative is the Vibram part of the sole comes unbonded after like 100 miles on rocky terrain. I usually lose one or two of the strips along the metatarsals. Otherwise the shoe is solid, has good grip in a variety of terrain.

I use Altras exclusively, I love the fit, comfort and innovation of Altras. The Mont Blanc are the worst in design. The heal cup doesn’t cup the heal. The material doesn’t breathe. So that combination makes for a guarantee of blisters i f your putting any significant distance. Stick with the Lone Peaks.
