It works, however you have to be very careful not to pull on it too tightly or you lose the effect of the padding. I had to re-wrap the bars a couple of times to get the padding feel right without having any gaps.

Ok, so I ordered this tape specifically to practice wrapping my bars for the first time. I already hadv the "expensive stuff" from a well known manufacturer. And I didn't want to risk losing it if I botched my first attempt at wrapping my new bars that are a little unconventional in design and shape. So, I order this inexpensive bar tape as a trial run sacrificial product. And I was actually surprised by it! First I measured the rolls for length, finding them to be longer than some others I've used at, 87.5" (222.25cm) each. I also used quite a bit of tension on the tape as I went and found it to be very strong (I actually broke the "good stuff" with MUCH less tension!) The install went very well and I ended up with such a good tape job that I hated to remove it. But, as I ordered this just for practice I didn't care about the color. And well, the color I got just didn't jibe with my bike, so, off it came. As such, I can't comment on the durability of the tape, just that it was strong under a LOT of tension, applied well, and the finished result had a good feel. AND it was long enough to finish my bars, whereas some other inexpensive tape I had on hand was not. Overall, I'd say that if it holds up a reasonable amount of time (and I see no reason it wouldn't), for the money this represents a good value. The only reason I rated in four stars rather than five is because I didn't actually test in long term to see how it holds up. But as far as the overall quality impression, strength, length of tape supplied, and the feel of it when installed, I'd rate it a five.I'd go so far as to say that if in the market for a budget bar tape, you can definitely find lesser stuff right here on Amazon. And I can't honestly say that my "expensive name brand stuff" is really superior.Hopefully some will find this helpful.

Just put on my wife’s bike and she loves it. Good shock absorbing properties similar feel to cinelli cork tape. Feels like it will hold up and plenty long so you don’t have to install sparingly. Like the fade from patterned to black

I’ve spent way too much money on handlebar tape. I really like this tape because of the way it feels and how it looks.I have spent much more money on handlebar tape with less than desirable expectations.I think I found my new handlebar tape! Not only do I like the texture it is economical!
