The joysticks on the Ultimate 2C have a shorter throw than the Switch Pro controller. I feel this is an advantage in games like Metroid Dread where you are mostly aiming the joystick in a circle. However in games like Breath of the Wild it feels less precise than the Switch Pro controller. The buttons are much louder on the Ultimate. It can keep family members up during an intense boss battle during the night. I imagine it feels close to an Xbox controller although I haven't held one since the 360 era. The D-Pad is quite functional. No wrong inputs unlike the switch pro. It feels different than the other 8bitdo offerings but on par with them. A little soft but precisely clicky. Worked fine on my PC, Steam detected it as a Switch Pro controller wired. Kind of bland color selection. The Hall Effect thing is a bit overhyped but welcome. All that matters is how everything is implemented together.

Less expensive alternative to the nintendo's pro controller. Works great.

Judging by the price I expected something much worse. Very comfortable and firm grip, analogs very smooth and precise. Despite some reviews mentioning "mushy" buttons I cannot disagree with them more, buttons are very tactile and precise, no issues. Does not feel cheap, looks very good and play well.

Controller overall is great in the hands and works well for longer term playing.Build quality is great, feels good in the hands with very slight texturing. No odd creaks or plastic sounds while using. No random disconnects or sync issues.ABXY buttons are a little soft but feels great to press. The button presses registered as expected while playing a variety of games. Back triggers felt great and travel length is on par with first party controllers. The rest of the buttons work fine.Thumbsticks are easy to move around and very smooth feeling, without deadzone or drifting. Thumbstick button presses are a little difficult but no more than any other controllers. The direction pad is just OK. Probably not the best for timing precise fighting games, but more than acceptable for all other genres. Up, down, left, right work well as expected, diagonals a little more difficult to be consistent with. The set of additional buttons past the triggers (L4, R4) can be mapped and are in an interesting place. I am a bit more used to having additional buttons at the back side of the controller. I have average size hands, and could just reach the buttons to press without issue. If you have small hands or shorter fingers, it may be an issue to reach them without repositioning your hands while using the controller - so just something to keep in mind. Programming the buttons is fairly easy to remember.Battery life is good for this controller also. From a full charge, I was able to play a few hours each day during the week before it gave me the low battery warning.Overall, it is a clean looking, very functional controller for gaming, with two mappable buttons. I enjoyed using this controller and my friends who tried it also loved it. I do recommend the controller since it works and feels great.

I got maybe 8-10 hours worth of use out of the original joy cons (mario kart) before drift issues and so I bought a brand new pair (of original switch joy cons) which almost immediately had drift issues. If I was being ridiculous on the controllers and smashing them back and forth I would understand that I may cause damage. I was actually having trouble driving with the 2nd pair as I was specifically being very gentle on the joy cons and they still started drifting. What a waste of money. So I bought this 8BITDO controller. Super easy to set up. Keeps a charge for what I need. No drift yet. 25 hours in. Honestly, way more comfortable too.

This is a sturdy well built controller and the price is better than what the “pro” controllers price is. I like bitduo and recommend them. They have fun color choices too.Note: this controller will not work with an iPad. I tried to play Minecraft with it on my iPad and it didn’t work. Not sure why. Hence 4/5 stars otherwise if you’re purely using this for Nintendo switch. Get it.

Controller works amazing. Feels great and does all the things an official pro controller can. I even use it to play games on my PC. Works wonderfully

This is an excellent new revision to the 8bitdo Ultimate C line. Note that in my photos, the orange controller is the outgoing Ultimate C controller, while the blue one is the Ultimate 2C controller.I should start my review by clarifying that the tier-rating of 8bitdo's ultimate line goes from budget-friendly version to 'premium' version goes like this: Ultimate C (outgoing model) Changes of note:1) L2/R2 feels just like the C; that is, they're like tactile rubber membrane with zero pre-travel before the bump. The difference is L1/R1 are now clicky. Weird change that I can't say serves as a negative or positive, but I don't hate it.2) The middle button layout is now more similar to the official Switch Pro controller -- except the home button is dab in the top middle, and the "official home button" location is actually the Star button that you'd use to map Turbo and other macro buttons. I actually prefer this layout because I can easier reach for the screenshot button.3) Speaking of macro mapping, we also have new L4/R4 buttons (see photo). They're also clicky switches. If you don't use them, you can always leave them unmapped, but I think they're a welcome addition. For comparison, the more premium Ultimate controller has back paddles instead. See attached photo of the included quick-start guide sheet on how to map.4) Noteworthy upgrade is the joysticks. The 2C now has hall effect sticks (whereas the C did not), which is now recognized as a new standard to be drift-resistant. What sets the 2C even one step above the Ultimate is that they made the joystick shaft metal, with added friction-reducing rings to minimize the amount of wear and tear you'd get from utilizing them.5) D-pad now feels different from the C and Ultimate. The C and Ultimate have a distinct loud "pop" when you press it in ANY direction -- even in diagonals. Now with the 2C D-pad, you don't get the loud "pop" but you get more of a lighter "click" feel (still feels like a membrane) but you distinctively feel the cardinal directions (up/down/left/right). So when you press in the diagonal direction, you will absolutely feel two clicks at once. I can absolutely see this as a benefit for practicing certain sequences in fighting games and the likes, but this is highly preferential.6) This is probably me being nitpicky, but from a rigidity standpoint, this is the least rigid version of the Ultimate line of controllers -- but this isn't to say that this isn't a rigid controller. It's still much more rigid than the official Nintendo Pro Controller, so this is still a great aftermarket controller with no frills.7) Yes, you can wake the nintendo switch with this controller. You press and hold the home button and give the controller a little shake. It's quite quick at waking the Switch, too.8) It comes with a matching color USB-C charging cable!Overall, I am thrilled to have added this controller to my collection. This controller is excellent value, and I can't see any other aftermarket controller that can hold a candle to this one at this at the price point. My guess is that 8bitdo may end up bringing some of these features into an updated premium controller at some point.
