I purchased after watching a nice video review. The mike paired with my Boss VE8 effects sounds great. It picks up my voice well with very little external noise, even from the guitar. It works well with the XLR to 1/4 cable, but even better with an XLR only cable, which my effects device required. (Be sure that phantom power is turned off on a device the mic will be plugged into!) The mic is built well, balances nicely, and picks up unidirectionally as described.

First I bought 2 Microphones then was so pleased with these, bought 2 more. These are being used for jam sessions. The build quality and sound clarity and frequency response is remarkable for a fraction of the price of much more expensive brands. I might require another 2 microphones to complete my studio and will not hesitate to purchase these once again.

This microphone functions for practice and small venue performances, but not for professionals on the road. Well worth the money I paid for it. It's great to have a function mike and stand again.

I’ve tried it with 3 amplifiers and the only one that picked up decent sound was the really nice amp. But the cord is suuuuuper long and nice.

This mic harkens back to a classic design which I like. It comes with a conversion cable from XLR to a quarter inch cable, but you can use a standard XLR cable if you have a pro audio mixing desk to achieve higher output with lower noise floor. It looks and feel like a quality item and wouldn't be out of place in a karaoke bar or a club based live band type of situation. The sound is quite balanced and even which allows you to eq the audio as you like. The only thing I don't like about it is the switch. It's a recurring point of failure on most microphones and it's presence is completely superfluous. It can also cause you to think there's something wrong with PA when there isn't and hinders troubleshooting when there is! I put a piece of tape or shrink-wrap on my mics for identification purposes so I will likely put it over the switch in the on position so it can no longer be adjusted. The only other thing with these more affordable microphones is body noise. If you're going to record with this I would have it mounted on a stand. If you handhold it your'e going to hear bumps etc in your recording. As long as you keep that in mind I think this is a good purchase for someone who needs a decent mic but doesn't want to spend a ton of money for it.

Mostly disappointed with this. While the build quality is good, being made of metal and has weight, the sound pickup is quiet and loses a lot of high frequencies in voices. The pickup range is very small, only picking up sound that is directly on top of the microphone, and less than 10cm away. I had to turn my mixer to maximum and it still cut out sound. Even upon recording, the sound was quiet, words were cut out and higher frequencies got muffled/dampened. Comparing it to my $99 USB mic, it was running circles around it. Even my $45 Zealsound mic performed better. While it works, I would not use this or spend the current $30 for it over a USB mic.

Got this to go with a boombox for a reunion. Our voices came across clear & loud making announcements to the crowd. Worked great.
