This looks great and fits well. I have a 6x6 mailbox post and I ordered two other versions of this that said they fit 6x6 but they didn’t. This one does!!

This does the job and protects the mailbox from your trimmer. I didn't find quite as easy to install as I expected, but I highly recommend finding the video online.

I installed this on my 6x6 wood mailbox post. Our neighborhood requires a standard design with a wooden post and it was starting to get a bit chewed up from trimming around it. This was the perfect solution. It was easy to install and is working great.

I had a brand new outdoor deck built for me last year. It wasn’t inexpensive. This year I noticed that my line trimmer had to be handled very carefully around the nice, new deck posts to avoid marking and hacking them up. I came in from outside and went straight to Amazon and did a search. These are perfect. I installed them myself. I used a grip-type carpenter clamp to secure them befor fastening to the post but otherwise followed the installation instruction video -working left to right. I also used pilot holes, as I personally prefer on all my projects. I used the included screws. They look neat and now my weed trimming time is cut in half because I don’t have to be so careful. I’m glad I found these shields. I would recommend.

I purchased and installed this product to cover and prevent further damage to my wood mailbox post caused by string trimmers. I like that the material is aluminum, which won't rust in the humid Florida climate (hopefully the screws will hold up as well). The thickness of the aluminum, and easy of installation, pleasantly surprised me. It only took me a few minutes to install by lining up the overlapped pieces and driving in the self-driving screws (which were provided). I'd paint it white to match my mailbox post, but I'm sure the string trimmers will strip the paint. It looks nice as is.
