I put these to use is a number of patio pots that contain small trees. I have the clay version of these in some other pots. I honestly am not skilled enough as an arborist or gardener to tell you which work better. I simply wanted to try something different. They’re a tad larger than my clay ones, and they’re just as easy to tap into the soil with a rubber mallet. The material is solid and appears to be well made. The caps fit well and are easy to attach and detach. If they don’t do well after a couple seasons, I’ll update my review. But for now, they seem like 5-star stakes.

These watering stakes are meant to deliver water under a compacted layer of soil, down to the tree roots. I have two small trees that seem to suffer more than others over the dry weeks of the summer, so that’s my primary use for these stakes. For now, the ground is frozen so there’s no chance I could drive any of these stakes into the ground to test. The build looks good, no burrs or other issues from manufacturing. The caps fit well and are easy to attach and detach. The holes along the sides are not very large, but there are many such holes, expect this to effectively disperse the water inside the stake. The one drawback is that these are made of plastic. Not as sturdy as metal, which is quite an issue in soil like I have, with tons of pebble of all sizes. Also, not sure about how durable these may be: roots tend to locate the source of water and head right into it, sometimes cracking even concrete pipes. Hope this stakes do withstand such issues.
