These spring punches are very well made. I actually use these quite often. You hold the head down against what you are working on with one hand, and with the other hand you pull the opposite end back and release. The force of the punch is applied to the tip. This is useful to make an indentation prior to drilling so that the bit doesn't drift, and I also use it to drive in small brads in antique items that are raised up a bit. You can't always get a hammer in a tight area and a punch is often the only thing you can use with enough force and without hurting the surrounding area, especially if you are working around a glass pane.

Includes most anything needed to set brad heads into trim, drive out spring pins, or even use to create some percussive maintenance on screws and bolts that may be stubborn. WIll be keeping this at arms reach in my tool bag for sure. Nice carry case means I don't risk losing an individual one rolling around loose. Rubber grip prevents pinching my fingers while also proving a nice grab point to pull the spring back with. Just remember with these kinds of punches, many light taps is better than one hard one. Go too deep and you risk damaging the surrounding area, or the punch tip itself.

I had low expectations when selecting this item. Upon opening the box I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of them. The ends are nicely machined and captivated perfectly in some sort of durable plastic. The chrome finish is smooth and uniform. It's a 5pc set but each punch is double sided so it's more like 10pcs all packaged in a zipper pouch. The one at the end of the chisel can be used as a flush finish hammer... or directly hit with a hammer if the spring chisel action isn't really cutting the task at hand. The shafts pressed into the springs come in contact with the opposing shaft, which in turns provides the impact action for driving pins, roll pins, or nails.Really hard to beat this set for it's price. I would highly recommend this product. I for one will be getting a lot of use out of this set.

The plastic grips are a nice feature I was surprised make a difference. I have used a set in the past that did not have the grips and I find this to be much easier to use. The kit covers just about everything you need in a punch kit. Sadly the flaws cannot be overlooked. First, it is chromed. This issue with chromed punches is the chrome peels and then you have sharp finger cutters. The other issue is the steel is not hardened enough for the center punches and cold chisel. I used them on a piece of mild steel 1/4 inch thick. The punch dulled first strike. The chisel started dulling within 3 strikes. So if you use this set for woodworking, things should be fine. Metalwork needs a different set with harder steel. Recommended for woodworking and general home use.

These tools solve a very simple but nagging problem: deliver a good tap to remove or drive in pins and small axles in impossible tight places. Also, provide very fine control over the intensity of the tapping by the amount of tension in the spring, how far back you pull before releasing. I could not believe how easy one of the pointy ends made it to remove the pins from a case hinges that I have long gave up dismantling for cleaning and realigning the lid, because there was no other way but remove the hinges and it meant messing the finish. These serve a specific purpose, and they do it very well.Very good quality of the build: exact tolerances, little play between parts, and well-shaped tips. Not a single manufacturing issue that I could spot. The semi-soft case these come in is adequate, just that it is not easy to put back in the elastic loops each of these. A hard case with a different retention system for these tools would have been preferable.

This is a pretty handy little set of automatic tools for my workbench and beyond! They say it is a 5pc set, but in reality you are getting 9 tools since all but one are double-ended! They came quickly and arrived in good working order. They come in a nice zippered tool bag, with each tool having it's own place rather than just being thrown in loose. The tools themselves feel pretty well-made and durable, and you can basically use them for anything that you need to loosen or mark. I even used the chisel one to take the head off a screw I had messed up so I could drill it through again, and it worked! I really like this set, and will be using it all the time, replacing a bunch of mismatched and homemade tools I have taking up space on my bench now.

Disregard the condition of the baseboard in the pics. I'm going to clean and repaint, but I wanted to see if this tool could sink that nail that has been sticking out. Turns out it could. It worked really well actually! The kit comes with several nail setting tools as well as punches to mark when you want to drill into metal and some really handy door hinge pin removers. The only one I don't really see me ever using is the flat head which you're suppose to use to get screws out or something? That one seems weird. Regardless, all the spring tools are great quality and the case is great to keep them together!

For small things in tight places these may be just the ticket but a regular hammer will get you much further. I never knew these things existed so I had to find out for myself. You pull back the spring and a little anvil inside slams into the other anvil and imparts force. It's kind of hard to make firm contact and hold it in place at the business end as you're pulling and dropping the spring though. A hammer strike would be measured in foot-lbs and I would guess this thing would be measured in foot-ozs.I'll keep these around for my next small project and see how they do. If you have a delicate operation coming up you might give these a try.
