I needed two HDMI to VGA adapters to connect a newer computer to a pair of older monitors that I have. The monitors had a choice of DVI or VGA and I decided I prefer having VGA adapters around because they're more 'universal' than DVI. I even have some brand new monitors that have VGA in addition to HDMI so I suspect VGA is still going to be a backup connection method for some years to come.What about the other 2 from this pack of 4... well HDMI to VGA adapters are a good thing to have in a laptop bag/backpack for the times that you need to connect to an older monitor, projector, TV, etc. that doesn't have HDMI or Display Port. Having a pair of extras gives me one that I can give to someone who wasn't as prepared and needs one. That is easier for them (and for me) than trying to explain to them exactly what they'll need to go buy and if they've already tried the one I loaned them and it works for their setup why force them to take a risk on some other brand of HDMI to VGA adapter.While it hasn't been an issue for me and my intended uses, note that the Ankey adapters are unidirectional -- they only convert HDMI to VGA, not vice-versa.

These adapters are always good to have just in case you need to connect an older monitor, laptop, TV, etc. that doesn't have HDMI. Instead of needing the adapter and not having it, it is better to have it and not need it. And with a pack of 4, even if you lose 1 by accident, you have 3 others..to try not to lose.Normally when 4 items are grouped together and sold for a similar brand's item you would assumeit's much lower quality or cheaply made, etc. but I'm happy to report that these are well made, the connection is nice secure and it basically works as advertised.
