This is one of those tools that sits around gathering dust until you need it. Then when you need it, there is no substitute.Unlike a tap-and-die set, this thread chaser set is specifically designed to clean and straighten existing threads. (A tap-and-die will work, but there is a risk of inadvertently cutting a new thread pattern into the old threads which will severely weaken the fastener.)This set covers both standard and metric sizes and both male and female threads. You'll find the size you need for most "normal" applications along with Thread Files which are handy for manually cleaning up threads (but require a bit of skill to use properly - watch some video).The tools are well made and - importantly - come in a decent case. (I hate chasing loose tools around in a drawer.)

I used this thread chaser set on my MK7 GTI after one of my lug bolts cross-threaded the wheel hub. I’ve got actual lug bolts, not nuts, so it was a bit of a headache. Thankfully, this kit was a life-saver. It worked perfectly to restore the threads and the process was smooth.It was easy to use, and the variety of tools in the kit made sure I had what I needed. This saved me from a much bigger problem, and I’m really impressed with how well it worked. I would definitely recommend this.
