I am an amateur cook, and do enjoy trying new dishes and experimenting with recipes that I find on occasion that sound interesting. One thing I did not have is an automatic food chopper, so this was my venture into unknown culinary automation. This chopper has some pros and cons associated with it, but I'm really not sure if they're because of my lack of skill, type and quality of vegetables I'm using, or the product. This is a very subjective review, since I don't have a foundation of using other products like this. The only thing I can compare this to is what I've done in the past, which is chop up vegetables by hand. After some easy setup, I've found that cucumbers and carrots can get chopped pretty easily. I was more interested in the dicing capabilities however, but in attempting to cube potatoes, squash and watermelon I've found that I take as much time preparing cuts of vegetables to feed as I would have to just cube them manually myself. Although it was satisfying to experiment and perfect the feeding and chopping of this device just as an exercise, it did not really save me much time. With practice and continued use that may change however.Overall, I would say if you are preparing food where you need items diced, and do so often, this will be useful. But if you are looking for exact and precise food preparation, this will not give the output of manual food manipulation that a sharp knife and cutting board would give you. Although with practice you would save time and energy at the expense of having another appliance in the kitchen.
