These rustic vanda baskets are square have a natural look. One is 10 inches wide, one is 8 inches wide and one is 6 inches wide. Made from recycling the leftover off-cuts from teak wood furniture making. Teak is a hard waring wood which is resistant to rotting, warping and splitting
The wooden hanging planters have gaps between the wooden slats which allows for really good airflow which is imortant for successfully growing orchids, ferns and many other plants

How To Use The Hanging Wires

Unbend the 3 sets of wires

The wire sets come bent so they can fit in the box. First unbend them to make them straight for hanging on the baskets.

Fan out the 4 separate wires

Just below the big hooks, pull the 4 wires outwards a bit so that they fan out around the hook. This will make them easier to attach.

Make small U hooks at ends

If you want the wires shorter use wire cutters. At the ends of the 4 wires on each set, make small U hooks. Use your fingers or some pliers.

Attach the U hooks to baskets

There are 4 eyelets on the tops of the baskets. Insert the U hooks through every eyelet. Then press each U together to close it.

How to Use a Wooden Basket for a Staghorn Fern

Line the basket with the mesh liner. Then position your fern inside the basket. Use bark chips or coconut husk chips to fill around your fern. To hang sideways add some moss to the top of the chips and then use fishing line to tie in the fern. Or just hang the basket upright using the hangers.

What sort of orchids are these baskets suitable for?

Many different orchids can go in these baskets. Orchids with long roots can be threaded through the slats in the bottom of the baskets. Or smaller root orchids can sit with their roots inside the basket.
What are the baskets made of?

They are made of recycled teak wood off cuts from teak wood furniture making. It's a good way to make sure that scrap wood doesn't go to waste. Teak wood is hard waring and resistant to rotting, warping and splitting.
Do the mesh liners need to be used?

It's optional. If you are threading an orchid's roots through the base of the basket you don't want the liners to get in the way. But if you are using a potting mix it is helpful to prevent the mix falling through.
If my orchid has outgrown its basket should I remove the basket before putting it into the new basket?

Not necessarily. It can be difficult to remove a basket without breaking all of the orchid's roots. You may want to simply put the basket inside a bigger basket.
Should I mount my staghorn fern upright or sideways in a basket?

Staghorn ferns can grow on almost any surface. As the fern grows and creates bigger shields it will completely cover the basket. So you can hang it upright with the basket on wires or hang the basket sideways on a wall. See above for more details.

Great price for these baskets WITH the hooks. Usually you have to purchase them separately and it can add up. When planting orchids, you'll want to use some very large mulch until the plants are established, but once the plants latch onto the basket, you will never have to repot - just set into a larger basket. I would definitely purchase again for orchids.

These planters are great! They are perfect for orchids and my stag horn fern. These planters let the plants grow as it they were in there natural environment. Easy to work with and the plants love it definitely buying more of this product in the future!

Good build quality and a great variety pack. The included hangers are excellent and we found getting them attached and level was a quick and simple process. I really appreciate that they are a bit longer than most hangers available, which helps facilitate larger/taller plants like epiphyllums and staghorns. Highly recommended.
