it's ok as a vent but because of the design the inner frame can't be sealed from weather with outer frame and the 'strainer' screen doesn't keep out bugs on the perimeter of the inner frame as told by another reviewer. i would be skeptical of the 5* reviews. i'll keep it until i find an alternative

We needed a little more ventilation in our shed, but I did not want any flying pests coming through the vent. This vent worked great for us.

A seemingly great build at a great price compared to other similar items. However, it’s the broad screen mesh, tacked in a fashion that leaves openings in the corners. Furthermore, since the louvers are a boxed-in section on their own, and then fitted loosely into a frame, a gap exists between them. This gap spans the full width and height on all four sides.If you opt for this, plan on having your caulking gun handy to fill all these voids.

I got this to try, because I need to replace some old plastic foundation vents in my house. This works perfect. It is the the correct size for a block foundation and fits in easterly. It easy to open and close for rthe seasons change. And the filter keeps the bugs out. Will be buying more come spring so I can replace all the old vents.

Living on the waterfront in a hurricane / flood zone, our home is raised with an unconditioned elevator shaft and utility room on the ground floor. They both require "flood vents" to allow water to flow through when the occasion arises (seems to be once every 3-5 years). I had previously used a standard big-box thin painted steel vent and just a couple months after a flood came through, it had completely coroded and become quite an eyesore.This vent is a significant upgrade, made from better materials with a better design - even allowing the vent and duct to "snap" out for cleaning it should it strain out weeds and vegetation during the NEXT storm event. It's also a bit larger so I did have to cut a larger hole through the Hardi board (using both a die grinder and an angle grinder with diamond blades).Regardless of my particular application, the vent itself is great. A good size, good airflow, a very upmarket look to it and should be completely free of corrosion.A solid choice if this is what you require!

I requested and received “for free” this 16 X 22 INCH GABLE ALUMINUM ALLOY WALL VENT to test and give my honest opinion. Between our two families we have four sheds, two BIG and two medium sized. I already added an increased size pair of vents and one solar fan to the biggest shed and plan to do the same thing to our second big shed. The first one was so easy to convert and the results were so good I've been picking up the items needed to update the second big shed as they became available at a good price. Glad to say this vent was the last item on my list of needed parts, sad to say it's now 18 degrees outside during the day and no way am I going to add a "not needed solar cooling fan to my shed" for a few months. I did open the box and inspect this vent before storing it in my cold shed and it appears to be well made with very good materials. The vent is so good I would definitely use it not only on my shed but I would also use it for my HOUSE gable intake opening opposite the attic exhaust fan.Ordering as a Vine member does not mean I’m getting "free products".. Between my time for testing the product, doing an honest review and the FEDERAL AND STATE INCOME TAXES I am liable for because I am "receiving items of value in lieu of wages" that are based on the LIST PRICE with no coupons allowed to be used, there is a real cost to these items "paid for" by me. Since most of the items offered to VINE Member are Brand New to the market, never on the market before, MANY TIMES the price drops or coupons become available to every Amazon buyer a week or so after VINE Members orders them at FULL LIST PRICE. This really affects any cost savings VINE Members may end up with... So far I have been having a great time "doing my VINE job", and I hope to continue doing it for quite some time....
