2025 Womens Organza Church Derby Hat - Elegant Fashionable Tea Party Fascinator and Church Hat

The hat itself is cute for the price and I’m happy with the color, but I’m very disappointed at how it was crammed into a tiny box. The hat is mangled. I’m trying to get it to lay like it’s supposed to but it keeps popping back into it’s mangled form. I’m hoping it will lay correctly before my event in a few days.

I ordered this 2025 Womens Organza Church Derby Hat - Elegant Fashionable Tea Party Fascinator and Church Hat with an eye towards the Kentucky Derby; we always dress up and make a party out of it, and I liked the lines of this inexpensive, sheer, lightweight hat. I have a fairly large hat collection, if I didn’t wear it for the Derby, it’s a nice addition to my collection, or to our family’s costume stash.This hat is made from organza; that’s the only information the sales page gives. Organza can be made from silk or nylon or polyester; judging from hand feel, I would guess this is polyester, but I’m not a fabric expert. The fabric is sheer; I like the effect of the transparent fabric draped on the hat frame.This hat arrived folded up, it needs to be restored to its full height and shape. I’ll admit it, when it arrived, my heart sank a little; it was quartered, and the wire base was wiggly. However, it was easy to straighten out the frame, and running my fingers along the brim and crown smoothed out any wiggles or wrinkles. I thought I might need to steam it, but I straightened it out and left it to settle; a few hours later, it had settled into shape and looked much better. No need to steam.The fabric is a sort of cream color with just a hint of honey yellow; the trim is black. I liked the black outlining on the ribbon at the base of the crown and on the ruffles at the edge of the brim.There is a large decorative flower made from the same fabric, that, the ruffles at the edge of the brim, and the wide ribbon are the decorative touches on this hat. The sheer fabric works as another design element. Because the hat is fairly simple, with the cream color scheme, you could add additional trimmings and notions if desired, but it’s nicely decorated as is.I haven’t decided yet if this is my Derby hat this year, but it may well be. The wide brimmed style is also suitable for church, or for a tea party, or a wedding, although I would definitely add additional color to the hat if wearing it as a wedding guest. it’s not white, but it is cream; a colored scarf wrapped round the base of the crown would be a simple fix.Be aware that the wide brim won’t protect your face from the sun like a straw hat, the transparent material isn’t going to block all the sunlight, so remember sunscreen if wearing to a picnic or outdoor event.At the current price ($13.99) I think you get a lot of style in this inexpensive hat. My initial thought about this hat was that is looked fairly simple in design; it would be a good base to build a Derby hat. I had a few ideas about a racing themed or maybe cocktail themed design. I still may use this as a base, but it’s attractive enough to worn without additional trimming.Of course a hat at this price point isn’t going to be a Philip Treacy, but it has a lot of panache for this price point. As long as you’re looking for an inexpensive church/tea/Derby style hat, I think you’ll be pleased.This can be folded for travel; it just needs a realignment afterwards.

Cute hat in the picture, but arrived folded up in an envelope! It looks nothing like the picture other than the color. Please fix the shipping to avoid returns. This is after 1 day of trying to shape it.
