EXCELLENT VALUE!!Love it!! I measured the TIR at the end of a 0.250 Gauge Pin held at the tip of the jaws and it is LESS than 0.0002.5 inch!I have 50+ years’ experience in machining and have not seen a better buy for the dollar! This chuck is very smooth and holds very solidly with only hand tightening. The complaints about no second, non-rotating section, are for the most part, unfounded, unless a wrench was used to TIGHTEN it, which is unnecessary. This chuck has brass jaws & regularly overtightening them will eventually cause damage & increase any run-out.I have not yet found it necessary to use the supplied spanner to either tighten or loosen this chuck. In 90% of the cases where it SEEMS necessary to wrench tighten this, or most GOOD Keyless chuck, is due to damaged, out of round. or dirty bits.Make sure any bit you use in the type of chuck is in pristine shape. i.e., not burred or rough from being previously spun & damaged in another chuck. Doing so will most certainly damage this, or most other keyless chuck!Pretend this chuck cost you $700+ and you'll be less likely to abuse it!!

I ordered this to replace the keyed chuck that came with my benchtop milling machine. I tend to miss-place chuck keys and the old chuck had pretty bad run-out.Pros:This chuck has a lower profile than a lot of keyless chucks, so it does not take up as much of the already limited Z travel in my mill.Actual runout was 0.002 TIR, right on what was published in the description, much better than my old chuck and no visible wobble. Should be fine for drilling.Feels nice and smooth and looks well made.Cons:Original order took 6 weeks to receive, and when it did arrive, I got a MT3 chuck in a R8 box. Decided to try a replace and received the replacement much quicker ~2 weeks. The box had been opened, so I suspect Chum Power checked that the item was correct before shipping, so I feel like this was adequately remedied.I'm happy with this item, and may update after I've used it a bit.

Runout on the one I received was 0.0012 well below what was advertised holds the bit well with very little torque applied to the adjustment sleave and it feels solid and smooth operating but tight no slop between the parts going to buy one for my lathe tailstock next.

the 0.3-13 mm chuck with r8 shank is as described it exceeds there 0.002 accuracy claim, my dial read 0.0015. The workmanship of the part is good, the part is clean of any debris and the drawbar tightened the arbor with a light hand pressure. Drilled a 3/8" hole in a 1/4" piece of aluminium with only hand pressure on the chuck, there was no slipping of drill bit. the chuck that came with the mill was out 0.010 returned this chuck to the dealer and they replaced it with a chuck that read 0.006

The build quality on this is absolutely beautiful. I was reluctant to spend so much on a keyless chuck because I bought one when they first came out, and literally ended up throwing it across the room into the bin. It did not have a hole and wrench like this one, just in case it does ever jam, and it jammed constantly. This Chum Power one is silky smooth and takes a deceptively light force to clamp it, yet it does not slip. Easy to loosen, and have not needed the wrench so far. At first I was Leary because it has only one knurled surface to grip, where as the cheaper ones have two grip areas, but it is so easy to tighten, it does not need more than one. Even the wrench is of top quality. I will be buying a second one.Well, no I won't. I just discovered the draw back of a keyless chuck. Since it unlocks easily just by turning it backwards it is never actually locked like a keyed chuck is. Therefore, it can not be used for taping on a drill press or lathe, since when you turn the tap backwards to break the chip, it loosens the chuck. Because of that I will not be buying a second one for my lathe, and I will keep my keyed chuck for that.

Was using a hole saw to cut metal and the saw caught and broke the chuck. It was nice when I got it but don’t think that should have broke it that easy.

First of all, it's not at the same level as a Albrecht but very close. Purchased for my JET 17" DP and using a .3125 pin, TIR was at .0012 this is fine for woodworking. I would not hesitate to order one with the R8 shank for my metal working. Operation is very smooth, you can just feel the firmness when setting. The overall finish is top notch also.

I purchased this for my Nova Voyager DVR drill press. It looks very well finished, and the jaws look accurate, and close down to pretty much nothing.I mounted it in my DP, inserted a ground 3/8" rod, and measured a TIR of about 0.0005 (possibly a bit more or less, as this is the absolute lower limit of my digital indicator's resolution) about 2" down from the jaws. Even that tiny amount of runout might have been coming from my spindle, and not the chuck. Amazing. I can't imagine asking for better than that, especially for $130.That said, I have somewhat regretfully returned it. I had not noticed that this keyless chuck has no manual grip ring. The Nova DVR doesn't have a mechanical spindle lock, and it's electronic spindle lock is a bit feeble. This made tightening, and (especially) loosening the chuck somewhat awkward.I bought the JT33-taper version of the same chuck from ChumPower and a new arbor. The new chuck has a manual grip ring, but otherwise seems similarly constructed. The arbor/chuck combination has more TIR (about 0.003) than the reviewed item, but grips well.Chum Power... if you're listening.... how about selling an integral-shank chuck that includes a manual grip ring, a-la Lambrich? I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

My 20 year old milling machine needed a new chuck and R8 spindle. The old Jacobs key chuck was showing .023 runout!I looked at a few $200+ chucks and spindles but decided to take a chance on a Taiwan import. $115.00Found this on Amazon and bought it:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08817XXDJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1Actually, pretty good. It is showing less than .002TIR. Locks up nice and tight with just hand pressure.Sometimes you win!
