These end mills are about half the price of a similar tool at the supply house. The product page says they are for cutting aluminum, so I tested mine out on a piece of 6061 flat bar. The teeth are very sharp and cut easily. I got a respectable surface finish even when feeding at a brisk pace. I tried some face milling and a few side milling cuts, each with the same good performance. On the side milling I had a little trouble with the conventional cuts, recutting the chips and messing up the finish. Climb cuts worked much better. I think if you use flood coolant or compressed air you'd have less worry about the chips (as usual with aluminum). I did notice some circular scratches in my finish, which is probably an inconsistency in the grinding of the teeth. I would describe my surface finishes as good or acceptable, not "beautiful" or "excellent" as stated on the product page. After my tests on aluminum I decided to take a few cuts on some mild steel. Even though this tool is not designed for it, the carbide is plenty strong and gave me good performance while facing some 5/8" steel bars. Overall, based on the reasonable price of these cutters, I think they perform pretty well. They cut quickly, leave decent finishes, and don't break the bank.

The flutes on this bit have a much tighter sprial flute tham most. It cut well and left a dicent finish. Great cutter for basic milling. I always try to keep the flutes ckean so the chips don't build up and scratch the furface. Over all, it's a good mill bit.

I only dabble in milling aluminum. Wood is what I mostly do. But my CNC router is beefy enough so I like the option. This EM seems to work just fine. It's short so it'll have less flex thana longer EM. It easily cut a precise hole for a bearing in the aluminum block I was working with. The finish was very smooth and no aluminum melts and stuck to the cutter.

This is a nice sharp mill for aluminum. I tend to cut a lot more wood than aluminum on my CNC mill so this mill will be used mainly for rough cuts on 3d wood panels. For this work I am not concerned with the surface finish. I just need to remove material fast so I can come back with a small ball end mill for a finish cut. This end mill will work great for that.

This appears to be a well machined bit and is very sharp. Athough not yet used, it will no doubt work as specified for my upcoming aluminum milling project.

Looking for a stub length EM for your small CNC or bench mill? Don't have enough clearance between your spindle and work for a regular length EM? You might want to give this little guy a try if you are milling aluminum. It is a mid shear 3 flute so it will leave an excellent finish as long as your machine is relatively rigid. I admit the cost for one seems a bit high until you figure in about 5 bucks minimum shipping UPS/FEDEX/USPS charges. So get a few for a better price.

This carbide, 3 fluke, square ended, 1/4-in shank and cutter, uncoated endmill works better in my small mill than my small CNC router. The shank is engraved with the vendor’s name and the bit’s size. The bit’s manufacturing was good, and it arrived sharp, however the finish on the cutting edge is coarser than I have seen on bits from other vendors (an issue noted by others). Designed to mill aluminum, it works well with that material, even with its coarser finish of the edge. It is an upcut bit, so it clears the aluminum shavings nicely from the cut. Since it is uncoated, the bit lacks the cooling effects and life extension provided by coatings. However, it seems to be holding up well so far. The price was reasonable.

This is a nice looking end mill for aluminum. It came in excellent plastic case and the shank is marked with a brand name and basic dimensions. The OD is exactly 1/4" and has a nice surface finish. However the grinding in the flutes has much coarser finish, too coarse for aluminum. In addition instead of having a sharp edge at the OD this end mill has little portions of the OD remaining. It helps to insure the cutter size is 1/4", but it interferes with the cutting action. This mill will cut aluminum , but it is not good enough.
