What’s the ballasts?
- A ballast is a crucial part of a fluorescent or HID lighting system. Also does it provides enough voltage and current throughout operation and regulates the electrical current of the light once it is lit. Without a ballast, the bulb will consume too much power, causing it to burn out quickly-sometimes within a few minutes. The ballast can prevent this from happening and ensure that you benefit from the entire life of the bulb. Every ballast is designed to connect directly to your vehicle and requires NO programming or coding.
- The most common cause of HID Ballas failure is long term use, which can resulting in flickering, dipped beam not working or light failed. When have problems, you'd better replace it so that you can enjoy the real strengths of HID bulbs.
- The ballast is to help your lamp start up quickly. When the lamp is turned on, the ballast provides a surge of higher voltage to the lamp. This helps establish an arc between two electrodes on the lamp. After the electrode arc is established, the ballast reduces the voltage and regulates the electric current. This ensures the light produced is even and steady, without flickering or fading.

I replaced the old ballast control unit with this unit, after installation light worked good as new, however, after a month the light is out again. After replacing the ballast I also replaced the head light so everything was new. I have not had a chance to disassemble the unit due to the fact that you must remove several fender screws in order to remove the light assembly, so I cannot say if I received a bad ballast or if its a problem with the light itself.

replaced the ballasts on both sides, for some reason the high beam lights dont work at all and they did before. the actual ballasts are the cause. mechanic said unless i want to get new ballasts, i will never have high beams again

It works. Put it in a 2006 Cadillac DTS. Easy to install and seems to be working just fine.
