The whole point of the optical isolator is to fully isolate the input from the device, however, the input common is shared with the power supply common, not isolating it from the power supply common at all. Fixable by using the center pin of the Hi, Low selection as the input common giving the input approximately 10 meg ohms of isolation. In many applications this would matter but in my situation, I wanted to maintain ground isolation in order to prevent a ground loop that could cause hum on my audio system. An easy fix, but still, how much harder would it been just to add a separate connection for the input common? but it was cheap.

I used two in tandem to switch power between batter power and line supplied power. 12v about 2 amp. Works flawlessly.
