2 x 55W HID Bulbs

2 x 55W CANBUS AC Ballasts.

1 x General Installation Guide

Installation instruction:

Please note it is an aftermarket kit for 12V Vehicles. No need authorized mechanic installation and they won’t help you anyway because they stick on OEM kits only! Strongly recommend refer Youtube to familiar the installation work before purchasing!

Please note, some cars may have adaptor between the globe and the latch. In such, you need to modify the adaptor or replace it with a designed HID bulb adaptor/holder (package not included). You may inspect how the bulb is held in place so that you will know what you may need that properly

Features:

55W AC HID Xenon kit:

ProGear Tech Performance Genuine 55W High Power AC (Alternative Current) HID (High Intensity Discharge) Xenon kit are one of the best choices for consumers when comparing quality & spending.

NO OBC Error:

Our HID ballast equipped latest built-in intelligent CANBUS decoder which follows OE / OEM standard, perfectly fit for CANBUS vehicles’ lighting modules without OBC error.

Slim Ballast with Silicon Sealed Circuit Board > IPV6:

55W high power fast bright, longer lifespan than DC (direct current) ballast. No flickering at ignition, low ignition profile keeps your car running smoothly, 100% waterproof greater than normal IPV6, excellent vibration resistance, high heat, and cold resistance, protected from thermal shock, moisture, and corrosive materials.

German-sourced Burner:

The A-Grade Diamond Shaped Quartz Arc UV-Stop burner with precise focal length can perfectly project light and avoids glare. Austria Quartz sealed electrode helps to make the bulbs running brighter and has strong aging resistance.

Brightness: 55W VS 35W, it is quite difficult to distinguish the difference between two STRONG light if you stand in front of them in close distance. Because pupil contracted and limited the amount of light that enters your eyes. However, provide a longer distance > 20 m, you could see the difference.

Caution:

Bulb Size: Platform’s fitment guidelines are not absolutely correct. Please note that bulb size will be DIFFERENT from MODEL, YEAR, and REGION. Checking the car’s stock bulb or owner manual are necessary.

Not work for DRL mode: Daytime Running Light is designed to run halogen bulbs at half the amount of power. HID won't operate correctly with this lower voltage, which would cause flickering.

Not recommend on motorcycle: battery require at least >7A output (not capacity) for single and >14A for twin headlights. Usually, motorcycle only have charger rate 13A.

Installation: MAKE SURE you know how to install it. Strongly recommend refer Youtube to familiar the installation work before purchasing!

6000K: Most brighten white shine: Close to sunlight and comfortable to eyes.

8000K: Snow white color: Exotic, more luxurious look but have tint blue.

10000K: White color with tiny Blue projection: Exotic, more luxurious look and more blue.

12000K: White color with obviously Blue projection: Very cool outlook.

Un-trained eyes

Brightness:

55W VS 35W. It is quite difficult to distinguish the difference between two STRONG light if you stand in front of them in close distance. Because pupil contracted and limited the amount of light that enters your eyes. However, provide a longer distance > 20 m, you could see the difference.

Because light pattern changed:

So, you need to adjust the headlight leveling/alignment angle and make them to the correct angle. There have 2 mounting screws inside the headlight casing control the vertical and horizontal level. You may refer internet for more information about headlight adjustment. Thank you!

How to make the HID kit will work properly every time?

Do not install the HID ballasts near the engine nor anywhere the water can easily get onto. Make sure the connectors of the HID kit are tightly secured.

Turn the engine on first, before turning on the HID kit.

Do not turn the HID on and off frequently.

Bulb Holder

Please note, some cars may have adaptor between the globe and the latch. In such, you need to modify the adaptor or replace it with a designed HID bulb adaptor/holder (package not included). You may inspect how the bulb is held in place so that you will know what you may need that properly.

Troubleshooting

How to make HID kit will work properly every time?

Turn the engine on first, before turning on the HID kit. Do not turn the HID on and off frequently.

HID bulb modules won't fit:

Check to see if you purchased the appropriate bulb size for your vehicle. You can refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual for the bulb size. Some vehicles require additional HID adaptor/holder to hold the bulb in place.

Bulbs flicking during operation or turns on then both sides go out:

Please check the car battery and headlight fuse, use at least 25 Amp fuse if both lights share the same fuse, use at least 15 Amp fuse for lights if use separate fuses.

inspect all the connections between ballasts and vehicles sockets/wire harness.

Inspect all the connections between ballasts and HID bulb modules.

Disconnect all the connectors. Clean all connectors with alcohol. Wait more than 5 minutes to reset ballast micro-processer and then reconnect the connectors. Do not loss mating or miswiring connections.

Disable DRL (Daytime Running Light) and/or Auto On/Off Headlamp features.

Inspect electrical current instability and Grounding.

Determine if additional high-power relay wirings are required to provide enough power (ballast need 6-8A current when ignition) to the HID systems.

On-board computer displays lights failure warnings when the HID lights are turned on:

For some vehicles such as BMW, Audi VW and Mercedes, they have onboard computers to restrict outsource components such as HID conversion kit. Therefore, the only way for such cars to install HID kit is to install a CANBUS compatible kit or additional error canceller.

HID will shut down itself sometimes:

Inside the HID ballast, there is a microchip which is used to detect whether there are any potential problems, such as sudden high impulse or shortage of power input from battery or extremely high heat will trigger the self-protect and shut the ballast off temporarily. It takes about 5 mins for the microchip to reset itself and the ballast will be working again. Once this happens, please turn off the HID and wait about 5 to 10 mins.

Inspect for electrical current instability and Grounding. Determine if additional high-power relay wirings are required to provide enough power (ballast need 6-8A current when ignition) to the HID systems or add extra grounding (to car frame) on that side. This is a common grounding problem from aging wiring.

The colors or lighting of the two bulbs are different, vibrate/one/both lights go out while driving:

Ensure that the bulbs are securely installed in the light housing socket and both headlights are at the same leveling angle to the road. Inspect for damage in the headlight housing, electrical current instability and Grounding. Switch the failing bulb module to the working side to see if the problem remains on that side. (keep the engine running when test). If the problem still happens at that non-working side, it may the ballast and/or socket/relay harness cause the problem. Therefore, please switch again the ballast from non-working side to working side to verify the health of socket/relay harness. If the ballast work fine, it is the socket cause the problems. please check the socket connection. You may add extra grounding (to car frame) on that side. This is a common grounding problem from aging wiring.

For new bulbs, this is NORMAL there are chances that the colors are different for first couple hours of burning or even flicker a little bit. Since the power has not been stabilized yet. However, as soon as the power is stabilized, the bulbs will become normal.

I’ve tried a lot of different HID and LED headlights and these are by far the brightest in a projector headlight.

I own a shop and installed these Nov 2023 and One side Failed completely. The other side the bulb changed color from 6000K To almost halogen yellow. Only got these because Can bus worked well in a ford, but would not recommend this kit. I usually use a different brand and usually don't have issues with them. If I do they send replacements right away. I will continue to use that brand instead. Tired this out hoping that I found a new brand I can use too, I guess not.

This was an easy install, and to be fair, I replaced my previous HID after market lights that were professionally installed with these so it made install quite easy. I’m a lady and completed the install in less than 30 min. I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee so these work perfectly. They are bright, the brights are brighter than ever, and it’s a clear drive in the dark. If you’re on the fence between brands, these were a great choice for the price.

Installation was plug and play on 9006 bulbs.Package included an extra harness to increase length. I didn't really need those but on the drivers side only the factory polarity is "wrong" so I was able to use the harness and reverse one of the connectors easily for correct polarity. This allowed me to keep the factory harness stock.I replaced some premium LED lights (Hikari) with this. The passenger side LED had one of the two CREE LEDs fail just after two years and the driver side cooling fan stopped working due to minor debris (spider web). LED is cool but not yet reliable in my opinion. So I switched to HID. This HID kit is a brighter than the premium LED. The only disadvantage of the HID is that the cutoff lines aren't as sharp vs the LED. However this is a reflector application vs a projector. Yes they take a few seconds to reach max brightness but who cares, by the time you are out if you parking spot they are at 100%. The other negative of LED was that when it was snowing there was not enough residual heat to keep the headlights clear/defrosted. Yes this means more amp draw from the HID but that helps keep the headlights clear and really not significant from an energy standpoint when you are burning gas to power an large gas engine.Overall, I am very happy with this kit and consider it an improvement over LED. Time will tell how long the bulbs last but I can get a replacement HID bulb much cheaper. By the time the LED failed, the kit was already discontinued and I would have had to pay $90 for a new equivalent set.One reason I went with this particular set is due to the epoxy sealing, uv light coating, as well as the canbus compatibility. I don't think my car monitors the headlights via canbus but it was nice to not have to worry about in case it did.
