I got one of these chargers with a hand held radio I bought some years ago. I could never understand why the charge indicator light flickered between red and green. I had other ways to charge the radios battery and it was not a problem then. I noticed this desk charger on Amazon and bought it just to eliminate the other one. It work and worked well. Very happy with it.

The charger station sits on my desk and uses the original radio wall-wart power adapter (or any of the replacement models). My FT70 is always ready to go and always ready to hand.I haven't measured it with a stop watch, but it does appear that the radio charges faster in the cradle than using the regular charging port, even though the wall-wart is the same.The only nit - and it's a slight one - is that the radio has to be positioned fairly precisely before it will drop into the charging cradle. (Pulling it back out is easy-peasy.) Once in the cradle, though, my radio stays charged even when on and receiving. Plus, since the cradle keeps the radio upright and securely in position, there's less clutter on my desk.

It reduces a lot the time needed to charge your HT. It does not take a lot of space on your desk or wherever you choose to put it.Great value!

It took me a while to figure out how to make this work with my Yaesu FT-70D radio. The charger will only charge the radio when the radio is powered off. Turn the radio on, and charging stops. This fact is included in the user instructions.Maybe there's a good reason why you can't charge a powered-on radio in the charging base, but I can't think of one.

Pros: small, works well, ability to charge a spare battery while not in the radio.Cons: uses the cord you already have instead of having its own, won’t charge the battery with the radio on. This is kind of a bummer.
