Not for a Fender Jazz bass. This is a very nicely designed high quality portable stand that easily fits in a gig bag. Unfortunately, if your instrument does not have a symmetrical body shape it will not fit securely. I bought this for use with a 4 string Fender Jazz bass and the instrument tilts significantly. I tried to wrap one of the support arms to make the instrument stand up vertical...but at this price point I decided it just has to work as designed (or not) and returned it. I expect it would be great with any instrument that is symmetrical where it rests on the stand.

I suppose that nobody buys an Audi or BMW because they *need* a car. And likely no one is going to buy this premium stand just because they need a guitar stand. Having said that, this is easily the best guitar stand that I have ever owned in 3+ decades as a gigging musician.Stylistically, the design is superb. The materials and construction are fantastic. It's lightweight by guitar equipment standards, is easy to use, and does as best a job as a three-point style stand as I have ever seen. It's not impervious to being knocked over, but it would take basically a direct hit using this thing to have your guitar or bass knocked off of the perch. The padding is basically perfect, t he best I have ever encountered on a guitar stand, and the material has enough friction to help hold the guitar steady. If you gig regularly, this one is pricey but ultimately seems totally worth it. And even if you don't, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better looking stand for displaying your guitar at home. They really knocked it out of the park with this one.

So easy to set-up, just swing it open and spin the rear support foot. This a really nice design. The presentation out of the box is beautiful and it comes with a very nice drawstring carry bag. As you can see in the pictures it has no problem holding acoustic or electric guitars. There's really not much else to say, if you're going to use this at home, it looks really nice. If you're going to take it on gigs, it is super compact and easy to set-up, it should fit into any gig bag.

This stand looks like something you'd see in a movie about a band of "space musicians" going from planet to planet busking for food and power cells while solving crimes, while trying to stay one step ahead of the Intergalactic Planetary Justice Enforcement Agency, who are after them for a crime they didn't commitCool.Aside from how awesome this little beauty looks, it is one tough little bugger. (I think at one point in the movie Eaonis (the lead singer of Firefly, the band that the movie is about) beats a face hugger to death with it.)Seriously, If you fill your dreadnaught with cement, this stand will still hold it without flinching. -as if a guitar stand could flinch. It is completely over-designed and over-built, but what did you expect from a product designed in Germany...The stand actually folds to a manageable size when you're not fighting off aliens with it. It fits in the front pocket of one of my gig bags. I probably wouldn't carry it in there though. It does fold "flat" but is about 2" (51mm) thick. I would be afraid of it getting hit and pressing into the face of my guitar.I do have just one concern with the stand. There is a note on the stand that says, "Rubber is safe for most but not all nitrocellulose lacquer finishes." ....Do you feel lucky punk? Well, do ya?...Other than that little blip in material selection, this stand is great. It folds easily, will hold your guitar on a spaceship traveling through an astroid belt, and will make you look like a musician that has travelled back from the future to play shows for their great, great, great, great, great, great (x10) grandparents.Awesome.
