the cleaner gears are not engaging and just makes a clicking sound so it will not move

After nearly 3 hours of adjusting my pool settings and the vacuum settings In between getting the top to even stay on I GIVE! At one point it did climb one wall and got stuck at the top and sucked air untill my pump went dry If I hadn’t been there watching it my pump would have burned out. I’m sticking with my old power extreme pool cleaner at this point.Now maybe others will have better luck than me however, this would pool cleaner is not for my inground kidney shaped pool with sun ledges.
