Got it to add a clean clear boost to a les paul with little to no gain, hence the super clean moniker. As with any pedal it will take some playing with EQ and the pedal itself. I was trying to get a clean straty, syrupy, smooth tone and it is almost indistinguishable. It also adds good boost to a gained up dirty tone. Happy with it.

I have the xotic super sweet also and it is much better. It will do everything that the super clean will do and more end it sounds better

The Xotic Super Clean Buffer is an excellent pedal and will occupy a place on all my pedal boards (50 year professional guitarist). The negative reviews / comments on this pedal are honestly made from a position of ignorance. Leaving a negative review based on the "supplier" (bad packaging, etc.) has no relevance regarding the actual product. One review mentioned something about the pedal not operating well as a "Boost" pedal...? If they wanted a boost pedal, maybe they should purchase one of the Xotic "boost" pedals, instead of the buffer. The Xotic Super Clean does it's job and does it well. It is an always on pedal that I have set at 9:00, which is about 1/4 of the volume capability. Turning the pedal on will immediately improve your signal / tone.

I play electric violin. I bought this pedal as a volume boost for solos but I ended up liking the sound so much that I leave it on all the time. It takes an already great sound and makes it even better. It helps to cut through a mix but does not sound harsh. One of my favorite things about it is that it is able to be powered by a 9volt battery. I let a friend try it on his electric guitar and he told me he will be purchasing one as well. One of my favorite pedals now. The build quality is exceptional as well. Built like a tank.

Pedal arrived in working condition, but Arrived dusty and with scratches on it....and the packaging/documents all missing from the box. Fail on Chicago Musical Supply, and it gives a poor representation of Xotic...who normally does an outstanding job of packaging their pedals safely inside the box. Thanks for sending me a dirty and scratched pedal.
