Xbox 360 controllers have lots of issues over time, but this is one that's been working well for me for ages. I love it and it's a genuine product.

So, it's 2016 and Microsoft will soon (if not already) discontinue production and support for the xbox 360 and it's accessories. I've had three of these already and they inevitably develop a minor drift in one of the analogue sticks. I'm ok with it because these controllers can now be found on amazon for as low as 17 USD. I do not use an xbox360 but this controller is the only controller I use for PC gaming. Whether it's with the cable or the xbox360 wireless adapter this unit just works. all the games I've ever played (except phantasy star online2) go by the A,X,Y,B layout and although I find the PS4 and PS3 controllers to be more ergonomic and safer for extended grinding; there's just too many things you need to do to get them to work. PS4: you need input mapper, the PS3 works fine with the wireless D-input converter but some of the newer games don't recognize the controller as a digital input and then there's the panic moment when a game prompts you to smash the X button and you instead hit the PS3,4 X's button which is actually the A button... I am getting too old for having to reverse engineer my controller - just wanna play a darn game :).Long story short. It's getting pretty easy to find this controller at a really cheap price and for now I feel it's a very good alternative to purchasing the xbox one controller (69 USD) plus the wireless adapter (29.99)

While I'm not a fan of the Xbox itself, this is the best controller I've ever used with a PC. It's comfortable and pretty high quality. Works great for space flight sims, fighting games, RPGs... it's not as good for shooters as the keyboard/mouse, but I sometimes use it for those as well.I did a ton of research on joysticks and controllers, so for those of you are on the fence or are thinking about going with a different product, stick with this one. The Razer versions all have wear issues (the thumb sticks only last a month or two before they start to drift), other knock offs have random buttons or sticks stop working within the first few months, and other PC controllers don't tend to last as long. I always wondered why all my roommates used the Microsoft Xbox controllers, and now that I have one I see why. It's just plain better than any controller I've had for PC.All you need for it to work is a Wireless USB Receiver for PC (if you get a wireless controller), and if you get a wired controller you can just plug it straight into the PC's USB port. Again, go with the Microsoft Receiver, I looked into cheaper options and knock-offs, and they all had major issues.

We just got our kids, 9 & 7 years old, an Xbox 360 for Christmas. It only came with one wireless controller. Of course had to order extras. We have had a Wii for the last 5 years and this is a fairly big upgrade as far as screen resolution and quality of games. The wireless controllers are quick to sync with the console and the kids have found them easy to hold and use. I would HIGHLY recommend spending a little extra and going with the wireless controllers over the wired ones. Much easier to use and eliminates the possibility of people tripping and having your console crashing to the floor.I would definitely recommend getting rechargeable batteries. The good news is that these use standard "AA" size, 2 per controller. The box comes with 2 alkaline Duracells to get you started. We've had a batch of Eneloop AA rechargeables that we use with the Wii controllers so we use them for these also.Only other note is be very careful about which controllers you buy. I saw a lot of them on ebay etc, but were Chinese knock-offs. My brother's family has had an Xbox 360 for several years and have gone that route. Every single controller that they bought that was not original Microsoft OEM, had issues. Lagging, sticky buttons, not working after a few months. They eventually replaced them all with OEM units. I am usually all for buying after market items and not paying the OEM "tax" but in this case, I believe it's worth the extra expense. Also, wait for sales. You can always find these at a discount somewhere, Amazon, GameStop, etc.

I've got 2 of these at home and I can definitely vouch that they're able to take a pretty good thrashing. I've got three kids that are constantly messing with them (none over 7, so they aren't exactly playing nice with the things), and that's never caused a problem. However, in particularly frustrating situations, where people take out their outrage on said controller, it's only going to last so long. I'd recommend a punching bag or a padded cell for these situations to promote the longevity of your controller's lifespan. As far as connectivity and button response, it's pretty rare one of these will get your input wrong. You can use the controller to start up the system, and browsing is a pretty matter of fact process with the controller and a corresponding chat pad. To summarize, the controller works fine, and it does look nice. Some may have an issue with batteries, most have probably realized rechargeable is the only way to go wireless. I'd certainly recommend a charging station or play and charge kit. Especially if you're a frequent user of a chat pad or use a wired headset with it (which also works fine). So that's it, it's highly functional, wireless, and on Amazon it's not 50 dollars like it is in every retail location.
