There are several size socks so be sure to order for the size of your plane. There are guides. Just part of an overall effort to maintain your planes which would include moisture reduction and a light coating of oil that will not stain your wood.

These have been great for my hand planes that live in a garage workshop in West Tennessee humidity 85% of the year. Rust is a constant enemy. I’ve found that using these and throwing in those silica dry packs from random other purchases does a far better job than leaving thicker coatings of anti-rust oils, gels, or preventative coatings.When I bought these in fall 2023, it was slightly cheaper to buy these through Amazon than directly from Woodcraft’s site due to changes in shipping costs. This is also the lower cost option between the woodcraft, Lee Valley, Veritas, and others that I’ve seen online.

I really like that these plane sacks protect my hand planes from getting dirty and also that it prevents any moisture from coming into contact and ruining my investment. In my opinion my plane are one of the most valued tools in my shop.
