Guessing at the right size to order online is always a challenge. I sometimes wear an 8.5 and sometimes a 9. I ordered these in the 8.5, with the knowledge that manufacturers often make boots a little larger to accommodate thick socks. The 8.5 was a good choice for me. Despite the variations in American sizing, I'm almost always a Euro 40, and these were actually labeled 40.They have some nice value-added features, like a waterproof exterior, thin layer of foam insulation on the inside, a soft chenille lining at the top of the shaft, tabs on the back to aid in pulling them on, and a rubber sole with a good grip.I'm sure they will work great for the purpose I got them for — walking around the neighborhood with my dog — but they wouldn't be my first choice for actual hiking, for the following reasons:1) They seem a little wide relative to the length. I had to really lace them tightly to get my foot to stop sliding around in them—so much so that the tongue is slightly deformed. If you wear thicker socks, this may be less of an issue.2) One of the first things I learned about choosing a hiking boot is that your toes shouldn't be able to touch the front of the shoe when walking downhill. These boots aren't constructed with the lacing low enough on the foot to prevent that. Even with them laced as tightly as possible, my toes still slide into the front, sometimes even walking on level surface.3) The material of the tongue is pretty stiff and has an extra-stiff "ridge" at the top where the lining and exterior layers meet. When tightly or moderately laced, this ridge digs into my shin, and I think it could chafe over a long hike.4) Compared to the aggressively textured tread pattern on my go-to pair of hiking boots, these don't have nearly the gripping power. I wouldn't count on them for scrambling over rocks.I think most serious hikers know to choose a more purpose-built boot for their outdoor adventures, but I believe these shoes will be more than adequate for daily wear and casual walks. They look cute, and if that's all you need them for, then you have a winner!

These boots are of good quality. They are sturdy and comfortable. I like that bottom (inside) is soft. They are light weight. They feel slip resistant at the bottom. Very nice boots for fall and winter months. I wear size seven and these boots fit very well, they are true to size.

I love these hiking style boots. They’re so comfortable, and I find myself wearing them with everything. Over the weekend I paired them with a casual black long sleeve cotton dress and back tights with black boot socks. Such a simple but cute look for a causal double date! I also wear them often with jeans, leggings, skirts and shorts. They’re roomy enough for thick socks and they themselves are warm. So they’re perfect for cooler weather. The laces are nice and the boot construction is solid. These will last a long time, even if I continue to wear them almost daily. They’re a staple for any wardrobe and I must have. Highly recommend them!!
