I don’t like having my transmission pan off on a Sunday, just to find out that I’ve been sent a component that’s incompatible. I’m off to O’Reillys

Renewed my transmission fluid and replaced my transmission filter with Wix Automatic Transmission Filter Kit - 58836. Transmission seems to be shifting better since I replaced the original filter in my 1994 Chevy 2500 with the 4L80E transmission.

Look on YouTube to see how to remove the seal. I used a screw driver/scraper to deform the old one and the replacement worked fine. Use a rubber/plastic hammer to seat the seal all the way flush.

I believe this was stamped as made in Taiwan, which isn't surprising but would have liked it to be a US product. The gasket is flexible which I hate but the bolt holes are just small enough for you to be able to thread several bolts on to keep the gasket in place while positioning the pan. I forget which brand I bought before, but it came with a nice solid 1/8" thick gasket. Not expecting any issues with this, just being picky.

I switched from Fram to Wix a few years ago after watching a Wix supplier cut open an oil filter from each brand. Ive had good luck so far. I dont swap the tiny seal unless the new filter is loose, as its easy to score the hole. Be careful when ordering because Chevy uses 2 different pans, a shallow or deep. This one is shallow, and was the stock filter on my K2500 Suburban with a 4L80E
