I'm giving it more time. But so far (5 days), deer have not been attracted to it. They see it and walk right past it.

I use these in georgia and the deer love them! They with paw the dirt all around and the deer traffic is insane. Going to try it at my new place in florida and see how they like it. The deer in georgia won't hit mineral blocks much in the fall/winter time. So don't get this in the middle of hunting season hoping to attract a monster. I use it more for herd health during spring and summer, to help grow that monster, and help the does, and fawns.

When I began purchasing these in June 2020 the first thing I did was chain saw a length of ash from a tree that fell prey to borer infestation, and rough out a niche to hold the mineral block with the intention of minimizing salts soaking into the surrounding soil. An unexpected side benefit was that small animals, rabbits in particular, prefer to lick from the ends of the log rather than clamber onto and nibble at the block itself.Very often deer that come through also lick the log rather than the block (plenty of them do that as well), although I've yet to glean why that is.Of the eight so far placed, only one disintegrated within a few weeks, while the others remained together to the last lick. It was slow going at first, but since early spring of 2023 I've been averaging about 4 months per block.

Seems like a good product but gets beat up in shipping. When I cut away the plastic wrap it was in 8-10 chunks, pretty much a waste of money. Buy it locally if you can.
