Bought Westin Chrome nerf bars for my 2008 Nissan Frontier. After 6 years - totally rusted out from end to end and all around. Westin will not warranty past 5 years. Really? Even in Colorado? Nothing rusts in Colorado - with the exception of Westin chrome nerf bars.Buyer beware.

I installed these bars on my 2007 GMC 2500 HD crew cab classic (my truck is the same body style as the '06. These bars were packaged very well and arrived safe. Right away, I could tell that they are good quality. My truck came with 3" factory Denali bars on it. The new Westin bars are more heavier, look more beefier, and extend out from the cab more. The old bars barley gave enough room to get my foot on. With these, there is plenty of room. I am a big guy and there is very little deflection when I step on one. Installation was fairly simple. As some of the other reviews have said, the instructions are not very clear. For example, the instructions say to use the new provided cab mounting bolts for 07's and up. However, the new bolts are a smaller diameter than the ones that come out of it. I figure this was a change with the 07.5, new body style, not the 07 classic. Anyway, I just used the factory bolts and they were fine. The instructions said to torque to 50 FPs, but I torqued mine to 65 FPs. It would be nice if all the brackets were stamped FP (front passenger), FD (front driver), CP (center passenger), CD (center driver), RP (rear passenger), and RD (rear driver). The front brackets are stamped this way. The center brackets just had a C on them. I don't recall seeing a stamp mark on the rear brackets. I had to lay out my parts in the way they would install so I would not get the rear brackets crossed. Also, the instructions should call out more clear as to which hole in the center bracket mounts to the cab and which to the rail. One of the holes is on a 45 degree bend to the bracket. The other looks like it is on a 22.5 degree. Just know, the hole on the 45 degree bolts to the cab and the 22.5 degree bolts to the bar. One final thing about the instructions: the bar that comes in the red bubble wrap is the passenger side bar. The one that comes in the clear bubble wrap is the drivers side. The difference is the location of the threaded hole where the center bracket bolts. These should be clearly marked. It would have saved me some time and work.Overall, I love the bars. The quality and look out weigh the troubles with the instructions in my book. This is why I still give it 5 stars. I am a very particular person when it comes to my truck. I debated on changing the ones that was on it. They were a little small and hard to get your foot on them, but in fine shape. Now, I am glad I did change them, and I am glad I chose the Westin.

First of all, Kudos to Amazon for the Amazon Prime account option! I ordered these on Thursday around noon and installed them on Friday at 2PM! And it only cost me $3.99!!! That's amazing for a 50 plus pound package! The steps themselves are great, perfect polish and smooth bends in the tubing. Heck, they almost look like chrome instead of polished stainless! Good robust materials and brackets. The included bolts are all grade 8 or metric 10.9 and zinc plated for corrosion resistance. The installation was pretty easy, there are only four bolts per side to make the installation. The only issue I encountered was the instruction booklet. Since these steps fit so many model years, the directions aren't going to explain every detail. Just look at the included pics (only 4 black and white) and you should be able to figure it out easily. The steps are very sturdy and do not give/droop noticeably when I stand/jump on them (220lbs). They also look great on my white crew cab Silverado!

There are 2 problems with this product. The first problem is the way its shipped. The box and packing material are not enough to protect it from dents during shipping. My first shipment had small dents on both of the step bars. The second problem is with the install of this product. In order to install this product you must remove the body frame bolts. There are 3 on each side of the vehicle if you are installing these on a GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado. Do a google search regarding the removal of these bolts and you will see that there's a problem with mostly the center nut breaking it's weld. This can only be fixed at the dealership if this happens as the nut is inside the body and you cannot get to it. My passenger side center body mount nut broke it's weld and I was unable to remove the bolt. This is a well documented problem with late model GMC/Chevy trucks only. What ever you do, DO NOT USE AN IMPACT WRENCH!!! USE HAND TOOLS ONLY AND BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU DO ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THESE. GM also uses LOCTITE on the bolts. You also should retorque the bolts to 74 pounds. I hope this information will help. The product itself seems to be very well made and looks good on the truck. I wold give this product 5 stars if it wasn't for these 2 problems.

Well, you will find the best price here. I researched for months and nothing came close. It is a good product and was easy to install. Why 4 stars instead of 5?- The directions could be a bit better. Some of the photocopied pictures were quite unclear and made it difficult to know how one of the brackets should have been oriented. Note that the mounts are stamped with location codes such as FL (front left) and R (rear), which will help. It was difficult to tell which way to mount the rear, so get online and check out Westin's site.- The first kit arrived with two 'dings'. Be sure to look over your tubes carefully before you fully unpack the box! Amazon was awesome at taking them back and getting a new set to me in just two days.- The second kit looked good, but one of the mounting washers was missing. I have a lot of extra hardware in the garage, so I found a washer that did the job. This is not a huge deal breaker, in my opinion.- One of the plastic step pads has come loose near the back end, so I will call Westin about the lifetime warranty and offer an update on how well they stand by their product.
