The rings will not naturally rest flat on a dovetail. Whoever designed these put a set screw in so you can use that to push the ring up off the dovetail, hopefully leveling it -- the problem with this design is:- This approach makes it impossible to get the rings co-axial with one another (inherently making some bend in your scope tube).- With so little surface area for mating, metal on both sides will deform when you torque it to an appropriate mounting pressure.- You will absolutely chew up a dovetail by clamping a screw straight into it, at a minimum.- The ring will then teeter-totter, and when you eventually bump it will do more damage to the dovetail as the ring shifts around. Your scope tube will not stay straight, and possibly your scope will be damaged as well when rings are unequally pushed out of alignment.This really could have been avoided with a split/fork style of mount, where the bottom surfaces on either side of the dovetail are coplanar as they start as a single piece of metal (if my description is unclear, look at the Warne 7757M adapter)

I don't like the way they fit because they don't clamp tightly from the side as most dovetail mounts. They will slide along the dovetail until you tighten the allen head bolt that runs thru the ring contacting the top of the receiver. This leave marks on your gun where the screw contacts the receiver. I didn't like damaging the top of the receiver on my cz varmint. I reluctantly did but was not happy about it.
