The plastic guides are too flexible making it more difficult to get a straight light line when you cut.The base also flexes too easily. So, make sure you have a perfectly flat surface on which to work.You also have to press pretty hard and consistently for it to cut all the way down.The novelty cuts are cute and give variety to your hobbies, but you have to remember to press evenly, as you have to get it in one pass.The size is great and the colors and layout are great.Am I happy with my purchase? 60/40. So, yes, but not overwhelmingly.Would I buy it again? No. I would buy a larger, more sturdy, heavy duty machine. This is more of a cute, crafty cutter. I was needing something more practical, but I fell for the creaser and novelty cuts, thinking it would make it more versatile. It does, but it is not best for my application.

The structure is poor. The ruler is not sturdy. Because the slicer slides down the middle of the ruler, 1) you cannot identify where to place the cut line, 2) it reduces the ruler stability, so the blade wiggles making the cut not straight, 3) it does not lift up and down, so you can't slide the paper easily and it doesn't go down so you can't pin the paper down. Because of all these you end up with an uneven and not straight cut down a line. The blade change is a good idea, but they get stuck going in and out of the docks. I recommend looking for a different product.

This paper cutter did not make it. It is not cut out for heavy use needed in a classroom. This might be more suited for casual, occasional or light paper cutting. The metal wheel guide came lose. The clear plastic paper holder buckled. The metal slicer wheel has gone off course and is cutting into the plastic paper holder. This did not make it more than 6 months before malfunctioning.

10/23/23 Review UpdateAlthough I believed the Vvivid Rot8 Rotary Cutter was a good value, when I contacted the manufacturer regarding replacement of the dulled rotary blade as stipulated was possible in the description, I learned that the rotary blade is not at all replaceable. Since I received this item with a rotary blade that needed replacement, I will be returning it. A lightweight rotary blade trimmer is something I am still looking for, but this item was not it if the rotary blade cannot be replaced when it becomes dull and doesn't cut single sheets of 20# paper without a jagged edge.Vvivid 12” Rot8 Rotary CutterFor a while, I’ve been looking for a lightweight alternative Rotary Blade Paper/CardstockTrimmer. I currently have a 12” Fiskar’s Rotary Trimmer that is very good, but it is heavy (6+ lbs.) and cumbersome in size for me to use for quick trims. I was looking for something that would cut straight lines, but everything I could find that might work for me was either too big, too heavy or costs a lot more.The Vvivid 12” Rot8 Rotary Cutter arrived today. Weighing a bit more than 1.5 lbs., this is the perfect weight for my use. I live in a small space and don’t want to pull out my large (heavy) paper trimmer for small projects or quick cuts.I wanted a rotary trimmer with a steel or aluminum rail guide for the blade so my cuts would always be straight. I have several small paper trimmers with a plastic piece that flips up to place the paper, some of which have a wire guide in addition to the plastic guide or are guillotine type cutters. Inevitably, the wire stretches or breaks and no longer makes a straight cut when I need a more precise measurement. In addition, the cutting blades are small and need replacement often (and expensive). Less expensive guillotine cutter blades quite often bend and no longer make clean, straight cuts.I’ve had very good experience with rotary blades that are self sharpening. So, I regarded the fact that the rotary blade on the Vvivid Rot8 is advertised as self sharpening and replaceable as a benefit. Unfortunately, the blade on the trimmer I received, needs to be replaced. I don’t know if this blade is not as sharp as it should be because the one I got was returned/used, or if the quality of the rotary blade is poor. This is the one reason why I gave this trimmer 4 stars instead of 5.This unit didn’t have instructions for use. In particular, I need the info on how to replace the rotary blade, and hopefully something as a guide on how to use the angle guides accurately. My second reason for only 4 stars.The Rot8 Trimmer cuts a single sheet of 250gsm (92#) cardstock easily. Because it is lightweight, the trimmer is NOT smooth when cutting, it seems to drag. But it does produce a straight cut. I will have to evaluate how clean the cut is if I can find info on how to replace what I believe is a dull (used) or poor-quality blade. If the unit I received is a return, it could be why the blade is dull.Inch and cm measurements are printed on the left side of the platform in what I believe may be paint that could wear off over time and cleaning. The platform is small with measurements up to 5”. Not sure why the manufacturer stopped at 5” since it appears that measurements up to 6” could have been printed on the platform. At the very least it would have been helpful to have a 5.5” marking since that is half of a standard piece of paper in the U.S.All in all, for the price, if I am able to get some instructions for this trimmer to find out how to replace the rotary blade, this Vvivid Rot8 Rotary Cutter will work to meet my needs. Once I get the instructions and a new blade, I will update my review.

As a teacher, I often create activities for my students, requiring me to make half or quarter sheets, enough for each learner to have one. I'm pleased to report that for a reasonable price this tool saves you the tedium of measuring and cutting sheets of paper with scissors. The first time I pulled the rotary blade across a sheet, I was in love!

The only thing not sure of is how accurate it is might be, either the lines printed on paper are not square, I will have to investigate further. But other than that cuts great and very easy to use, very light but stable.
