I ordered this VOKOY 200 Sheets 8.5 x 11 Inches Translucent Vellum Paper to use with alternative photographic processes.I ordered this pack of vellum to try some alternative process experiements. First, I tried a sheet to create a digital negative with both a laser and an inkjet printer. The paper ran through both printers without any issues. However, running it through my inkjet caused it to curl quite signficantly. I then tried coating a sheet with cyanotype emulsion. While the vellum did a good enough job at accepting the emulsion, it would have curled up immediately had I not taped it down before coating. When I removed the tape after the emulsion was dry, the vellum immediately curled into a pretty tight cylinder.After exposure, I processed the cyanotype in my usual way with a dilute solution of citric acid. The curl relaxed once the paper was immersed in the citric acid but once again curled up as it was drying. On the positive side, there was very little rippling. The vellum does seem to hold up, though; I was able to get it out of the washing try with no rips.I'm still undecided about using this vellum for my purposes. It is not quite as transparent as I had hoped, so it does not lend itself to digital negatives. While it will produce a nice cyanotype, the curling requires a mounting strategy.
