I bought this September 2013 just in case I needed to replace the quartz sleeve when I changed the UV light.When it was time to replace the UV light, I opened the quartz sleeve package and found that it was shattered. It is very fragile.I tried to return it, I found that I was beyond the return window of approximately 30 days.Make sure that you check it when you receive it, regardless of whether you are going to use it immediately.

The glass tube itself is exactly what was described and ordered. The problem you may encounter is that Amazon seems to routinely ships this tube in the original retail shelf box. And about 50% of the time the long thin box arrives dented... with glass rattling inside. While Amazon has always replaced the broken item (the broken tube is sent back by Amazon), its not clear why they do not stick the tube in a proper cardboard shipping tube... or even the triangular boxes used by the post office. Those boxes are designed for shipping long thin fragile glass objects. I always file a packaging complaint. Considering the high price of these fragile glass tubes (almost as costly as the mercury bulbs that go inside) the management decision not to double box seems inexplicable bizarre?
