This literature is a great literature for my B-flat clarinet so I bought one for my E flat Clarinet thinking that it would be the same. It doesn’t fit it’s too large for each of Eb mouthpieces. it barely clamps the reed down and heaven forbid you use a synthetic reed! I kept it way too long to return it so I’ll probably end up selling it on eBay.

Though I like the sound using this ligature, it is overpriced, difficult to use because it is hard to center the reed, time-consuming to get it positioned, and has to be very tight to keep it from slipping. You would think that as Vandoren ligature would fit a Vandoren AL3 mouthpiece well, but no, it doesn't. When used on the Vandoren AL3 mouthpiece the ligature is a bit too large, so that by the time the ligature stretches out, the two top sides brought together by tightening the screw, virtually touch each other, which over time, may make this unusable on this mouthpiece. I regret buying this. It a waste of money. After buying this I bought a Rovner God ligature which gives a good sound, is easy to put on, and keeps the reed in a stable position without fussing around. When positioning any of the 3 hard or soft pressure plates of the Vandoren ligature, I found they are difficult to center. Also, the ligature is about 1/8" too long front to back. You wouldn't think that makes a difference, but it does. For sound quality I'd give it a 5, but the 2 leather plates give it a muffled sound. For functionality, I give it a 1 star. I think it will become useless over time as the leather stretches out at which point I'd give it a zero. Why can't Vandoren make a ligature that fits well on their own mouthpiece? Did Vandoren ever try it on this mouthpiece?

I have always used Vandoren mouthpieces for my instruments and I will never betray you. I was so happy that I was able to get it for a fair price too. It arrived well packaged and it works like a beaut as it should Thank you!

This ligature works very well if you are trying to change your tone on the clarinet, the three backings it comes with, metal, a thick black backing, and a thinner brown one, are very easy to remove and attach with no trouble. With each backing for the ligature providing a different tone on the reed, it becomes very easy finding your preferred one, however you must be careful in changing the backings because if you don’t make it evenly attached to the Velcro, it will mess up the sound of the reed, which is the only real downside of the ligature, but a small one at that.Overall, it is excellent at what it's made for, and provides a different tone quality for different occasions.

This arrived from California to Indiana in as promised condition in a very reasonable amount if time. These guys delivered! Perfect replacement for my 30 year old Rovner.Anyone who is having fitment issues may want to put it on the mouthpiece with a reed for a bit to break it in. It's a little tight but does fit the BD5 Black Diamond with a V21 3.5Can't wait for rehearsal this Thursday!

I can't really say I understand the differing backing plates, when a rubber band in a test sounds marginally different, but, I guess it's fun to have those options. They swap out with a velcro backing. Something I wondered about when looking at the pictures.. It seems to hold them securely while clamping down. What I like about this particular lig, when compared to the other's I've tried is it's clamping pressure is insanely even, and because of the material it's made from, doesn't mar the mouth piece. The screw mechanism tightens from both sides simultaneously, synching evenly, when so many others seem to tighten from one side or the other. This means no reed slippage at all, and a really satisfying creak as it tightens.. The reed is held insanely firmly, and because, again it's materials are so sturdy, you don't have that feeling that a twist on the mouthpiece is going to bend anything. It's rock solid.I paired mine with the Vandoren AL4 mouthpiece, and the fit was perfect with a 2.5 reed.Highly recommend.
