About this item

  • Die & Wrench Set: Die Wrench: 30mm x 11mm die stock fits 20mm-30mm outside diameter die / M9-M11 thread die, with 5 adjustable screws Round Die: 3/8-16 UNC threading die with 30mm outside diameter. Die stock, also called die handle or die wrench, are use in round dies only.
  • Application: The die handle wrench set can help to process, correct, clean male threads, or repair damaged bolts and threads, or just remove bolts and threaded rod. Great for re-threading existing threads in hard materials like metal, or making new threads in soft material like plastic.
  • Features: The die holder provides good wear resistance for long service life. With 4 adjustable screws, the die stock can securely hold round dies and is easy to operate. The alloy tool steel die is not loose for conical locking hole and strong locking, with hardness, high torque, good toughness and wear-resistance.
  • Easy to Use: The positioning groove of the die should be aligned with the fastening screw in the middle of the die wrench, and the screw should be inserted into the slot of the die and tightened. The die surface is lubricated with grease to prevent rust.
  • Tips: It needs to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate the chip discharge from the chip hole. Suitable lubricating oil should be added to the cutting edge of the die when tapping the thread. The bar diameter should be smaller ( about 0.05mm-0.15mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread.

Information

When tapping, appropriate lubricating oil is good for cutting or cooling, making the cutting easier and faster, improving the smoothness and dimensional accuracy, and helping to extend the service life.

The following lubricants are recommended: steel - cutting oil, machine oil; pig iron - dry oil; aluminum - kerosene; stainless steel - mixed kerosene; hard plastic - dry oil. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.

Tips for Round Dies

The end of the bar should be chamfered 1*45 degree, and the chamfer is too large to cut in. The bar diameter should be smaller ( about 0.05mm-0.15mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread. Excessive diameter can easily cause difficult cutting and lead to damage to the die teeth.

When tapping, add suitable lubricating oil to the cutting edge, and repeat the operation 3-4 times until the thread length is obtained. When using by hand, pay attention to even force and avoid blind force.

I had to put the die holder body in the lathe to turn a little out of the center - without doing this dies would not fit.

I needed to cut about 3 inches of thread on 3/8 inch steel rod to make a modification to my bandsaw. This wrench and die combination worked well and without problems. I used plenty of oil and reversed every quarter turn to break chips. The threads were clean and easily threaded into the mating component on the saw. There appears to be plenty of life remaining in the die. This was a good value for my application.

Nuts don't tighten well on threads

Does the job, not sure what else to say about a tool that works as designed.
