About this item

  • Die & Wrench Set: Die Wrench: 25mm (1") die stock fits 17mm-25mm outside diameter die / M3-M12 thread die, with one adjustable screw. Metric round dies size included: M3 x 0.5, M4 x 0.7, M5 x 0.8, M6 x 1.0, M8 x 1.25, M10 x 1.5, M12 x 1.75.
  • Application: The die handle wrench set can help to process, correct, clean male threads, or repair damaged bolts and threads, or just remove bolts and threaded rod. Great for re-threading existing threads in hard materials like metal, or making new threads in soft material like plastic.
  • Features: The die holder provides good wear resistance for long service life. With 4 adjustable screws, the die stock can securely hold round dies and is easy to operate. The alloy tool steel die is not loose for conical locking hole and strong locking, with hardness, high torque, good toughness and wear-resistance.
  • Easy to Use: The positioning groove of the die should be aligned with the fastening screw in the middle of the die wrench, and the screw should be inserted into the slot of the die and tightened. The die surface is lubricated with grease to prevent rust.
  • Tips: It needs to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate the chip discharge from the chip hole. Suitable lubricating oil should be added to the cutting edge of the die when tapping the thread. The bar diameter should be smaller ( about 0.05mm-0.15mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread.

Information

When tapping, appropriate lubricating oil is good for cutting or cooling, making the cutting easier and faster, improving the smoothness and dimensional accuracy, and helping to extend the service life.

The following lubricants are recommended: steel - cutting oil, machine oil; pig iron - dry oil; aluminum - kerosene; stainless steel - mixed kerosene; hard plastic - dry oil. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.

Round Threading Dies

The round dies can process, correct or clean external threads. Conical locking hole, strong locking and not loose. Great for maintenance and repair work on pipes, boards and machinery.

Wide Applications

For rethreading existing threads in hard materials like metal, or making new threads in softer material such as plastic. Suitable for tapping stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper, iron, aluminum, plastic, etc.. NOT suitable for tile, concrete, walls, stone, etc.

Alloy Tool Steel Dies

  • High hardness
  • Wear resistance
  • High hardening capacity
  • Tempering resistance

Tips

The end of the bar should be chamfered 1*45 degree, and the chamfer is too large to cut in. The bar diameter should be smaller ( about 0.05mm-0.15mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread. Excessive diameter can easily cause difficult cutting and lead to damage to the die teeth.

When tapping, add suitable lubricating oil to the cutting edge, and repeat the operation 3-4 times until the thread length is obtained. When using by hand, pay attention to even force and avoid blind force.

If you want a quality die cutter set for your toolbox, buy anything but this. Everything about this tool showed that the manufacturing process was shoddy. Even the set screw was out of round and I had to replace it out of the box.I always have low expectations with Uxcell since the quality of the products they sell are hit or miss. They’re clearly just a reseller, not a manufacturer, as this product proves. The brand on the package was "Besttools"—which is laughable. Best by what standard? Uxcell is usually the cheapest option in any category, and sometimes they have exactly what you need. However, this particular set arrived in a retail peghook pack that looked more like a clearance item from a Chinese overstock salvage site than a fresh factory product. It had clearly been handled extensively. The frayed packaging (see photos) was an immediate red flag that what was inside wasn’t going to be anywhere near Six Sigma quality.I only needed a thread cutter for occasional use, mainly to re-cut damaged bolt threads, which isn’t something I do often. While this tool might be passable for very limited use, its precision is highly questionable, and its durability is a non-starter.For example, I tested it on stainless steel and galvanized bolts that already had good threads. Instead of smoothly clearing them, it cut in a rough, uneven manner, raising serious concerns about the tolerance and machining quality of the tool. One could do as well with just a high quality stainless steel not to recut damaged threads. I’d expect this tool last maybe a dozen cuts at most, but I would never trust it for cutting new, reliable threads on clean round stock. Especially if that stock came from Uxcel but that's another review I wrote a while back. The tools lacks hardening and isn’t even made from proper tool steel—two essential features for a functional die cutter. The holder is cast aluminum and not precision although it does grip the die adequately enough so long as you don't force it.Not recommended.

I had a specific bolt that had stripped and I used this to fix it and it worked great. A little cutting oil and it worked like a charm

I thought I would be getting something really cheap for the money, but it worked just fine.

As you can see from my photos, EVERY single die in this product is absolutely unusable. These are supposed to be precise machining tools, and these all look like they were modeled in clay by a child and cast into metal. I am honestly furious that I now have to go waste precious irreplaceable time I get to be alive on this world to drive to a UPS location and mail this back to amazon. If you think that I am just unlucky, read the other reviews, they appear to have the same problem. FIX YOUR PRODUCT

Used to tap the threads on the battery tie down rods for my vehicle. When I replaced the original battery, the aftermarket one was not as tall and therefore the threads did not go down far enough to secure it. This worked perfectly to create more threads.

I only tried the M5. It produced a reasonable-looking thread, but standard nuts would not fit. After buying another die and comparing, it looks like the problem is burrs on the cutting edges of the dies that were left during manufacturing. Cleaning the cutting edges using a round file seems to fix the problem.I have upgraded my rating from 1 to 3 because of the poor workmanship.
