I tested on Mac OS. It's Plug and Play. It's a simple 2 Channel audio. It's limited to 48Khz 16bit. Latency is very minimal. It takes a bit of force to connect but once connected, it's very tight. The only weird thing is that it shows up as USB AUDIO DAC but this is going to USB to S/PDIF. The "A" in DAC doesn't make much sense here.

This USB 2.0 to S/PDIF DAC is an easy way to add optical audio out to pretty much any computer with a USB port, including iPhone and PlayStation 5. The adapter uses a Texas Instruments PCM2704C chip. The USB vendor/product ID is 08bb:27c4.As mentioned, I tested it with both a USB-C iPhone and my PS5 on one of my soundbars. It worked fine with both. If you want to use this DAC with an iPhone, you will need a USB-A to USB-C adapter. So, there you have it. It works fine, as expected!

Fit nicely. Used for a sound bar so the quality to me sounds the same as the previous wire. The sound bar uses a subwoofer so that might hide any quality reduction in going from an hdmi to usb. Either way worked for my setup. Working so far and sounds good to me.

I really like this USB to SPDIF/TOSEC optical adapter! My testing was done on Windows 11 so installation couldn't have been easier - just plug and play. Windows enumerates/identifies this as "Speakers (USB Audio DAC)" so once you select this as your output you are getting premium-quality optical audio. Note that the default driver installed by Windows only supports up to 16 bit DVD quality at 48Khz output (which is as good as humans can hear anyway, unless you are audiophile, in which case you hear the exact same thing but whine incessantly on the Internet about it).Build quality is excellent - everything about this adapter feels premium with one minor exception - the TOSEC connector can rotate slightly on the cable which I didn't really like. It would be better if it was affixed securely to the PVC cable, but it doesn't affect performance in any way.Recommended!
