If you are putting your own fence in just buy this right now. Anything else breaks and you cant always see where even if it isn't buried. This wire is think and the coating is tough. Do not create situations where you have to find breaks in cheap wire.

This is the second roll I've purchased and it is exactly what I expected. High quality. I fixed my dog fence (Invisible Fence brand) and it has had no problems.

Bought this 16 gauge wire to set up the invisible dog fence around my yard. Glad I did. Didn't have to worry about pulling it through stuff around the yard. I know this wire is going to last as long as we're here.

This is good wire and it’s priced right. I have been using it for years. The cheap low gauge wire that comes with the Pet Safe systems is junk and it constantly breaks. I had no breaks or issues for years with this wire. We are moving to a new house and I needed some more wire so I bought this again. I have full confidence in it.

“PetSmart Invisible Fence Compatible Above Ground or Underground Wire for DIY Electric Pet Fence - 1000 Foot Spool of Better Quality High Performance Solid Core Copper Wire for Easy Installation“First of all, the unlabeled black plastic spool is huge – it could easily hold over 1500 feet of this wire. Also, there is no label anywhere to indicate what type of wire it is, its gauge, or its length. There is also nothing printed on the casing of the wire.I did check the gauge of the wire though, and it is 16 gauge solid wire. I did not unroll the entire spool to measure the length of the wire. I’ll just have to take their word for it.When I originally installed our Invisible Fence system 37 years ago, I used the 16 gauge stranded wire that was supplied by Invisible Fence. It serve us very well for many many years. When we got another dog about five years ago, I installed a less expensive fencing system that used only 20 gauge wire. It has actually held up OK, but I’m always worried that there is going to be a break somewhere, and I’ve always wanted to replace the thin wire with more substantial wire of a thicker gauge. This wire is exactly what I was looking for. It’s 16 gauge and it has a thick jacket to protect the wire. Since it’s a solid wire and not stranded, it’s a bit stiffer and harder to work with than the 16 gauge Invisible Fence wire was. However, solid wire has less noise due to low attenuation, it has good transmission performance, and it has less resistance making it more suitable for long distance applications. If I have any problems with this wire in the future, I’ll be sure to update this review.
