After a few months one replacement wouldn't hold a charge. Replaced with the AA battery pack

I wanted an option that would allow for normal AA battery use in case something happened with my solar charging system and could not charge the normal integrated batteries. These fit the bill perfect, already tested and they fit and function great.

Unfortunately, the EXACT dimensions of rechargeable AA batteries vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer, especially regarding the size of the positive side "nipple". As a result, many of the rechargeable batteries that I tried to use in this device did not fit tightly when placed inside of this unit. This caused a loss of contact between the batteries whenever the radio was moved around, and the radio would turn off and need to be repeatedly turned back on again. Some users stuff cardboard or fabric inside to remedy this situation. I simply returned the unit.

Received 2 packs one seems to work (tested for 2 minutes). The other looses contact when handling the radio.Looks like the contacts are of poor quality - not springy enough and get flattened.

Both battery cases were dead on arrival. There is no way that these could have ever passed a functional test. The first row of AA batteries would not make connection. Either the case was built to the wrong specs (too long), or the clips were installed incorrectly at the bottom of the case.I was able to make the battery packs work by using a small screwdriver and prying up the clip at the bottom of the case so the batteries in that row would make contact. Also the battery pack is hard to remove once attached to the radio, I had to use the same screwdriver to help pry the pack from the radio.Luckily I was able to make the battery pack work... however it was manufactured incorrectly and would not work out of the box.Since I had to modify to make it work I gave it the minimum of 1 star... else It should be zero stars (if it could get zero). At least I didn't have to return the item...
