I bought this to go with my 2-year-old granddaughter's beginner balance beam and it's perfect. She loves tumbling on it and it offers lots of protection when she's on the beam and playing.

My child's gymnastic class uses and recommends these. I bought one as a result. Very happy with it.It isn't too heavy so you can move it around easily.

Not really an applicable review. I own several Tumbl Trak mats and love them. However, I received the wrong colour mat and returned it. Have not received a replacement, or date to expect one :(Pretty disappointing, especially as I require it for re-opening at my studio.

Love my new mats. I would like to order more in the future. They arrived separately but they arrived when they were supposed to. The Velcro is great and really holds the mats together. The foam inside the mat is firm. Very good quality.

Great quality and great support for all skills. My students love it for cushioning in Somersaults and Balancing, but also firm for Handstands and Aerials. My only wish is that they would velcro along the length and not just the end. I like to make a big supported square with the mats, not just a long track, but these ones slide apart with momentum (not when velcro'd end to end) .

nice mat...but a little firmer than i was expecting....was hoping for more cushion and give. The mistake was probably my fault seeing as i m not all that knowledgeable in regards to gymnastics mats.

Edited to add: we have had this 2 years (roughly) and it is still very durable and great for practicing! Her tumbling has gotten more advanced and thus she's fallen more. It still absorbs her falls well!My daughter is a competitive cheerleader, but at 6 years old, she is still learning the tumbling fundamentals that go with the cheer world. After receiving multiple referrals to this mat, we decided to spring for it. We went with the 1 3/8 in, because again, it was suggested to be the better of the two. The 2 in (although it doesn't seem to be that different) is said to be not as firm, and firmness is needed in tumbling. First, shipment was crazy fast. We ordered on a Saturday, it was here Monday morning. It is easy to maneuver around. It is big enough to do any standing tumbling on, but small enough to easily store. The quality is insane. It is very different from the cheaper versions out there---you can tell this was made to stand the test of time. I also love that it has the ability to be safely and securely attached to other mats to make a longer tumbling track (which is perfect for practicing tumbling sequences). If you are worried about safety with the 1 3/8, my daughter doesn't always land her tumbling, and has not been injured nor said anything about it hurting when she does "fall".

This is exactly the kind of panel mat you'll find in most gymnastics gyms. Foldable, with velcro on the ends to be able to connect additional panel mats to create long tumbling strips. It's fantastic, and I love that we can get this from Amazon! As a retired gymnast just looking to have a safe spot to continue skill work (handstands, walkovers, handsprings, standing flips, etc) and conditioning work (folded up for elevated push-ups, dips, stretches, plyo jumps, etc), this is exactly what I'm looking for. These are best used on a flat, hard surface to ensure a long life. Using on grass or other uneven surfaces might cause uneven wear of the mat, and using this as a weighted sled/run/push type of exercise across a floor or grass often will considerably shorten it's life as well. Over (quite a bit of) time, pounding/landing in exactly the same spot every time will probably cause dents/divets in the cushioning too, but that is to be expected.Mine did have a pretty strong chemical smell upon arrival. Kept it in the garage for 2-3 days, and then was fine. I occasionally use mine outside, and it does get very hot to the touch if left in the sun. I remedied this by putting a beach towel over the top of it. Mine doesn't slide at all, but then again I don't wear socks with it, or come in at a low angle (sideways force) that would cause it to slide more.Bottom line - great product, very consistent with standard gymnastics training tools, as it is one of the major supplier brands.

"Santa" brought this for my 3 and 6 year old girls this year and it is the only thing they play with every single day! They are both in dance and my older one is in cheer. Having this tumbling mat has allowed them to practice their skills in the security of their own home where they don't feel self-conscious and it has really helped in their development of skills as well as their confidence. It is a total hit with all their friends when they come over as well! Everyone thinks it is so cool to have a tumbling mat in our house. This super-cushiony mat is super high quality and can take a beating. My girls open and shut it a bunch of times throughout the day and are definitely not gentle and it shows no wear at all. Ours rarely leaves our living room, but it does fold up nicely (accordion style) and really doesn't take up much room. It is easy to tuck it away in a corner, a closet, or under a bed.(I also like to practice my yoga inversions on it 😜)

I bought this for my 5 year old daughter to safely practice her tumbling/gymnastics at home. The chemical smell was pretty strong when the mat was opened on Christmas morning. We had extended family visiting from out of town who brought with them a horrendous stomach virus. Their child quickly vomited all over my daughter's new gymnastics mat proving it be be both waterproof and easy to clean...well, aside from the banana chunks in the hard Velcro, which I can say come out pretty easily with the assistance of a toothpick. In fact, I actually became fond of the strong chemical smell. Anything is better than puke, but alas, after being thoroughly sanitized and allowed to air out outside for days, while the viral tragedy played out upon each and every member of our family, the strong chemical smell has diminished. My daughter loves the mat. It's very well made and of high quality materials. It's comparable to those in her gymnastics class, if not better because it is thicker. One thing though that recently happened scares me. I have a 9 month old as well who is crawling. After my 5 year old practiced her gymnastics, I sat my 9 month old on the mat. Anywhere the mat touched her bare skin, it appeared as though she had a minor chemical burn, after having only been on it maybe 3-5 min on her stomach, just lying there chewing on a teething ring. She does have very sensitive skin, but still, it really made me wonder exactly what that strong chemical smell in the material was. It gives my five year old no issue, but I'm that mother that is wondering if I'm unknowingly exposing my family to some seriously harmful chemical, now that I've seen what it did to the baby's skin. Also, without a doubt there were no sanitizing chemicals remaining on the mat to cause this.
