As you can see by the photos, the lay-up was rushed and uneven. I have contacted the seller but there has been no response. The drum is fine, but with such a poor lay-up, I cannot recommend this drum.

I did not expect much from this little drum. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. OK, the color is a little bit of noxious but I don't buy a drum for the color I buy a drum for the sound. Anyway, although it is a man-made Shell, it is rope tuned and actually sounds quite good. It is small enough to play like a dark Buka but it also works as a very small drum in a djembe setting. It is also relatively cheap, so that adds to The value of the product out of the box, I did not have to tune it which is an added benefit. All set, it is a good little drum and you cannot beat the price. It is very light and I think it would work well in a drum circle setting. Or as a traveling drum that you can bring to a campsite or the like.

Far beyond expectations! I didn't know much about Djembes but this is awesome! It's a real instrument, and not some of banging toy. The bottom is open and hollow for a reason: that's how the sound vibrates around! All the funky sounds that you see the experts make on the various Youtube videos, this Djembe can do too! Tapping on the sides, the higher pitched sound, and in the middle the deep bassy sound. Hold it between your legs and keep the bottom off the ground. The type of ground matters wrt carpet vs hardwood floor!Ropes are nice and tight. Such a nice and real instrument. My wife made me buy this for the kids, but now I would buy this in a heartbeat!

I already own a larger djembe just like this from Toca. I purchased my larger one from a local music store. I was shocked to see these drums for less than half the price of the music store. The djembe arrived within two days. I recommended to many friends. Great product and great service! Djembe sounds wonderful - I gave this one to my grandchildren (ages 1 and 3) and they love it. It has landed on the hardwood floors many times and has not a dent or scratch on it.
